 <note>This research is entitled “A Descriptive Qualitative study on The Use of Think Pair Share technique in Teaching Speaking”. The aim of this research is to see how the teacher used Think Pair Share technique in teaching speaking adapted from Kagan (1994), Gunter and Schwab (1999), and Kruse (2009). The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. The subject of this research was an English teacher using Think Pair Share (TPS) technique in teaching speaking and the object was class X-3 chosen by using purposive sampling technique. This research was conducted at MAN Rukoh at the first grade students. The instruments used in this research is observation sheet adapted from Kagan (1994), Gunter and Schwab (1999), and Kruse (2009). The result shows that the teacher had not done the teaching and learning process by using TPS technique fairly with the result of percentage on the use of Think Pair Share technique is 72.2 %. The total items of TPS technique in this study are 18 items. Among 18 items, the teacher performed 13 items accordingly, three items partially, and she did not perform two items. This study expects to give broaden knowledge and useful input to the English teacher of using techniques of TPS in teaching speaking.</note>
