Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendata jenis, mengetahui komposisi dan mengetahui struktur populasi berangan (Castanopsis spp.) yang terdapat di Stasiun Penelitian Soraya. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Desember 2023 - Mei 2024. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kuadrat dengan membuat 26 plot. Penentuan plot kuadrat dilakukan secara acak mewakili wilayah studi. Luas setiap plot kuadrat berukuran 20 m x 20 m untuk pengambilan data berangan tingkat pohon. Selanjutnya pada setiap plot kuadrat tersebut dibuat lagi petak kuadrat dengan ukuran 10 m x 10 m untuk mengambil data berangan tingkat tiang, 5 m x 5 m untuk pengambilan data berangan tingkat pancang dan 2 m x 2 m untuk pengambilan data berangan tingkat semai. Data berangan yang dikumpulkan adalah jumlah individu setiap jenis dan diameter batang setiap individu untuk tingkat tiang dan pohon. Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh sebanyak 3 jenis berangan yaitu Castanopsis argentea, Castanopsis costata dan Castanopsis hypophoenicea. Berdasarkan nilai INP, komposisi jenis berangan yang terdapat di SP Soraya didominasi oleh Castanopsis argentea (dengan nilai INP semai = 200, INP pancang = 200 dan INP pohon 234.031). Sedangkan jenis Castanopsis lain sangat sedikit dan hanya ada ditingkat pohon yaitu Castanopsis costata (dengan nilai INP 40.990) dan Castanopsis hypophoenicea (dengan nilai INP 24.979). Struktur populasi untuk ketiga jenis Castanopsis di hutan SP Soraya mencerminkan regenerasi yang tidak berjalan dengan baik sehingga termasuk ke dalam populasi yang sedang mengalami penurunan.

This research aims to collect species, determine the composition and determine the population structure of chestnuts (Castanopsis spp.) found at the Soraya Research Station. This research was conducted in December 2023 - May 2024. The method used was the quadratic method by creating 26 plots. Quadratic plots were determined randomly to represent the study area. The area of each square plot measures 20 m x 20 m for collecting tree level chestnuts data. Next, in each square plot, another square plot was made with a size of 10 m x 10 m to collect data on chestnuts at pole level, 5 m x 5 m to collect data on chestnutss at sapling level and 2 m x 2 m to collect data on chestnuts at seedling level. The chestnuts data collected is the number of individuals of each species and the trunk diameter of each individual for pole and tree levels. The results of this research obtained 3 species of chestnuts, namely Castanopsis argentea, Castanopsis costata and Castanopsis hypophoenicea. Based on the IVI value, the composition of chestnuts species found in SP Soraya is dominated by Castanopsis argentea (with a seedling IVI = 200, sapling IVI = 200 and tree IVI 234,031). Meanwhile, other species of Castanopsis are very few and only exist at the tree level, namely Castanopsis costata (with an IVI value of 40,990) and Castanopsis hypophoenicea (with an IVI value of 24,979). The population structure for the three species of Castanopsis in the SP Soraya forest reflects regeneration that is not going well so that it is included in a population that is experiencing decline.
