EFEK EKSTRAK RIMPANG KUNYIT (Curcuma longa) TERHADAP PENURUNAN KUALITAS SPERMATOZOA
TIKUS (Rattus norvegicus)


ABSTRAK
Laju pertumbuhan penduduk yang terus meningkat berdampak pada kehidupan sosial serta pertumbuhan ekonomi suatu negara. Oleh karena itu, pengembangan alat kontrasepsi pada pria maupun wanita terus dilakukan untuk mendapatkan jenis kontrasepsi yang ideal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak rimpang kunyit terhadap penurunan kualitas spermatozoa tikus putih. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL), dengan subjek penelitian menggunakan tikus putih jantan berjumlah 9 ekor tikus dengan bobot badan (BB) 150-200 g yang dibagi menjadi tiga kelompok perlakuan. Kelompok kontrol (D1) diberi carboxyl methyl sellulose (CMC) dan pakan standar, kelompok perlakuan (D2) diberi ekstrak rimpang kunyit dosis 300 mg/kg BB dan (D3) diberi ekstrak kunyit 600 mg/kg BB selama 52 hari. Pada tikus perlakuan D2 dan D3, CMC dilarutkan bersama dengan ekstrak rimpang kunyit. Parameter yang diukur adalah konsentrasi, motilitas, viabilitas, dan morfologi spermatozoa. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis of varians (ANOVA) pola searah. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak rimpang kunyit memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda nyata (P0,05). Disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak rimpang kunyit dapat menurunkan kualitas spermatozoa tikus putih.

THE EFFECT OF TURMERIC RHIZOME EXTRACT (Curcuma longa) ON THE WHITE RAT (Rattus norvegicus) SPERMATOZOA QUALITY REDUCTION ABSTRACT The increasing population growth rate had an impact on the social life and economic growth of a country. Therefore, the development of contraceptives in men and women continued to be carried out to obtain the ideal type of contraception. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving turmeric rhizome extract on the decrease in the quality of white rat spermatozoa. This study was an experimental study using a complete randomized design (RAL), with the research subjects using male white rats totaling 9 rats with body weight (BW) 150-200 g which were divided into three treatment groups. The control group (D1) was given carboxyl methyl sellulose (CMC) and standard feed, the treatment group (D2) was given turmeric rhizome extract at a dose of 300 mg / kg BW and (D3) was given turmeric extract 600 mg / kg BW for 52 days. In D2 and D3 treatment rats, CMC was dissolved together with turmeric rhizome extract. Parameters measured were concentration, motility, viability, and morphology of spermatozoa. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) unidirectional pattern. The results of the evaluation showed that the administration of turmeric rhizome extract had a significantly different effect (P0.05). It is concluded that turmeric rhizome extract can reduce the quality of white rat spermatozoa. Keywords: Antifertility, quality, turmeric rhizome, spermatozoa
