Penelitian ini berfokus pada penggunaan teknik Role Play terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa di kelas 8 SMP Abulyatama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa sebelum treatmen dan setelah treatmen. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah 31 siswa dari kelas VIII. Pemilihan sampel ini dilakukan secara acak dengan mengambil kartu secara acak. Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan dari pre-test dan post-test sebagai instrumen penelitian dan data dianalisis dengan menggunakan Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test karena data pada penelitian ini tidak berdistribusi normal, nilai Asymp. Nilai Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 lebih kecil dari 0.05, yang berarti hipotesis nol (Ho) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, penggunaan teknik Role Play memiliki dampak positif terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa dan teknik Role play ini juga dapat mengatasi masalah siswa dalam kemampuan berbicara. Kesimpulannya, pengajaran bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan teknik Role Play dapat memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berbicara siswa.

This study focused on the use of Role Play technique on students' speaking ability in the 8th grade of Abulyatama Junior High School. This study aims to determine the significant effect on students’ speaking skills before treatment and after treatment. The sample of this study was 31 students from class VIII. The selection of this sample was done randomly by taking cards randomly. The data of this study were collected from pre-test and post-test as research instruments and the data were analyzed using Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test because the data in this study were not normally distributed; the value of Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) =0.000 is smaller than 0.05, which means that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Based on this study, the use of Role Play technique has a positive impact on students' speaking ability and this Role play technique can also overcome students' problems in speaking ability. In conclusion, teaching English by using Role Play technique can have a significant effect on the improvement of students' speaking ability.
