Writing in English is not an easy activity to be mastered by students. It takes time and process to develop this skill because writing is not a natural activity, it must be learned and practiced. The second year students of SMAN 1 Unggul Darul Imarah still faced difficulties in expressing their ideas into a piece of writing. Quantitative approach with experimental study of pretest-postest was undertaken to overcome the problems faced by students in learning writing skill. The instrument used to collect the data in this study by means of the test in the form of written test. From the results of the study revealed there is a significant improvement on students’ performance in ability of writing narrative text after the picture and picture model implemented. Thus, picture and picture learning model can be one of alternative model used by the teacher in teaching English particularly teaching writing in EFL class.
