Adsorben kristobalit-khitosan berikat silang telah dibuat dengan variasi komposisi glutaraldehid. Khitosan yang digunakan adalah hasil deasetilasi khitin yang diperoleh dari limbah udang, dimana nilai rendemen dari khitin adalah sebesar 35,74% (b/b) sedangkan rendemen dari khitosan sendiri adalah sebesar 63,23% (b/b) dan derajat deasetilasi 80,935%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ikat silang antara glutaraldehid dan khitosan telah terbentuk dimana besarnya amina bebas yang didapat pada khitosan dengan glutaraldehid adalah 37,51%. Khitosan termodifikasi di uji daya serapnya terhadap ion Fe3+ dengan laju alir 0,7 mL/menit. Komposisi optimum glutaraldehid adalah 3% (v/v) dengan daya serap sebesar 68,70%. pH optimum yang didapat adalah pH 4 dengan daya serap sebesar 90,50%.&#13;

ABSTRACT&#13;
&#13;
Cristobalite-crosslinked chitosan adsorbent was prepared by using varies concentration of glutaraldehyde. Chitosan was deacetylatied from chitin of the shrimp waste. Where the value of the yield of chitin was 35.74% (w/w), the yield of chitosan 63.23% (w/w) and deacetylation degree was 80,935%. The result showed cross-linking between glutaraldehyde and chitosan has been formed. The amount of free amine modified chitosan was 37.51% (w/v). Efficiency of adsoption of modified chitosan was studied to Fe3+ ions, the flow rate was 0,7 mL/min. Modified chitosan with 3% (v/v) of glutaraldehide had 68.70% of adsorption efficiency. Cross-linking formation of cristobalite-chitosan can increase the stability of the adsorbent. The optimum pH was pH 4 obtained with efficiency of adsorption of 90,50%.&#13;
