 <note>Gaya hidup tidak sehat seperti kurangnya aktifitas fisik dan meningkatnya&#13;
konsumsi makanan tinggi lemak merupakan faktor risiko terjadinya&#13;
hiperkolesterolemia yang sangat erat kaitannya dengan aterosklerosis. Senyawa&#13;
fitokimia yang terkandung di dalam ekstrak manggis dan tomat dapat menurunkan&#13;
kadar kolesterol dalam darah tanpa efek samping yang membahayakan bagi&#13;
tubuh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dan perbedaan&#13;
efektivitas pemberian ekstrak kulit manggis, ekstrak tomat, dan kombinasinya&#13;
dalam menurunkan kadar kolesterol total darah tikus putih (Rattus Norvegicus)&#13;
yang diberi pakan tinggi lemak. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian&#13;
eksperimental laboratorik jenis pretest-postest with control group design dengan&#13;
menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap. Subjek penelitian adalah 30 ekor tikus&#13;
yang dibagi dalam 6 kelompok yaitu KN, KP, P1 (10mg/hari ekstrak manggis), P2&#13;
(10mg/hari ekstrak tomat), P3 (10mg/hari ekstrak kombinasi), P4 (0,18 mg/hari&#13;
simvastatin), masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari 5 ekor tikus dan diberi&#13;
perlakuan setiap hari selama 45 hari. Selanjutnya akan dilihat kadar kolesterol&#13;
total pada hari ke 45. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan uji One Way ANOVA&#13;
yang dilanjutkan dengan Uji Post Hoc LSD. Hasil penelitian didapatkan rata-rata&#13;
kadar kolesterol KN (137 mg/dL ± 11,1), KP (250,4 mg/dL ± 33,3),&#13;
P1 (184 mg/dL ± 10,4), P2 (156,8 mg/dL ± 14,9), P3 (163,4 mg/dL ± 14,8),&#13;
P4 (164,6 mg/dL ± 13,2) dan dianalisis secara statistik antara kelompok perlakuan dengan&#13;
kelompok kontrol memperlihatkan nilai p &lt; 0.05. Kesimpulan yang dapat diambil adalah&#13;
pemberian ekstrak dapat menurunkan kadar kolesterol total dan kelompok ekstrak&#13;
kombinasi memperlihatkan tingkat efektivitas yang paling tinggi dibandingkan ekstrak&#13;
lainnya.&#13;

Unhealthy lifestyle such as a lack of activity and increase of consuming food with&#13;
high fat content are the risk factors of hypercholesterolemia that it is closely&#13;
associated to the atherosclerosis. Phytochemical compounds contained in the&#13;
extract of mangosteen and tomatoes can decrease blood cholesterol levels without&#13;
harmful side effects to the body. The purposes of this study were to find out the&#13;
effect and effectiveness differences among mangosteen peel extract, tomato&#13;
extract, and their combinations in decreasing the total blood cholesterol levels of&#13;
white rats (Rattus norvegicus) were fed on high-fat diet. This research is a&#13;
laboratory experimental research with pretest-posttest control group design and&#13;
completely randomized design. The subjects were 30 rats were divided into 6&#13;
groups: KN, KP, P1 (10mg/day extract of mangosteen), P2 (10mg/day extract of&#13;
tomato), P3 (10mg/day extract of combination), P4 (0,18mg/day simvastatin),&#13;
each group consisted of 5 rats and treated every day for 45 days. The total blood&#13;
cholesterol level was checked at 45th day. the data were analyzed by One Way&#13;
ANOVA test and then Post Hoc LSD test. The results of this research showed the&#13;
average of cholesterol level KN (137 mg/dL ± 11,1), KP (250,4 mg/dL ± 33,3),&#13;
P1 (184 mg/dL ± 10,4), P2 (156,8 mg/dL ± 14,9), P3 (163,4 mg/dL ± 14,8),&#13;
P4 (164,6 mg/dL ± 13,2) and statistically analyzed between treatment groups and&#13;
