Kosakata adalah kumpulan kata dan frasa yang dipahami dan digunakan seseorang atau kelompok secara efektif dalam berkomunikasi, memahami teks, dan mengekspresikan diri dengan jelas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan signifikan penggunaan aplikasi Hello English dalam penguasaan kosakata kata benda. Penelitian ini menerapkan desain eksperimen dalam dua kelas: pre-test dan post-test. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 1 SMP NEGERI 1 Calang tahun ajaran 2023/2024 yang berjumlah 68 siswa. Peneliti menggunakan purposive sampling untuk memilih dua kelas sebagai sampel. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 40 siswa; siswa kelas VII-2 berjumlah 20 orang dan kelas VII-3 berjumlah 20 siswa. Data tersebut diperoleh semata-mata melalui tes. Peneliti menggunakan SPSS dan Excel 2016 sebagai alat untuk menganalisis data numerik. Nilai rata-rata pre-test pada kelas eksperimen adalah 57,75 dan post-test adalah 85,05, sedangkan nilai rata-rata pre-test pada kelas kontrol adalah 54,00 dan post-test adalah 64,75. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis nol (Ho) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Artinya penggunaan Aplikasi Hello English untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata siswa sangatlah signifikan.

Vocabulary is a collection of words and phrases that a person or group understands and uses effectively in communicating, understanding texts, and expressing themselves clearly. The aim of the study was to determine the significant improvement of the use of Hello English application in mastering the vocabulary of nouns. The study applied an experimental design in two classes: pre-test and post-test. The population of this research was the first-grade students of SMP NEGERI 1 Calang in the 2023/2024 academic year, there are 68 students in total. The researcher used purposive sampling to select two classes as the samples. The total sample was 40 students; there are 20 students from class VII-2 and 20 students from class VII-3. The data were obtained solely through the test. The researcher used SPSS and Excel 2016 as a tool for analyzing the numerical data. The mean score of the pre-test in the experimental class was 57.75 and post-test was 85.05, whereas, the mean score of the pre-test in the control class was 54.00 and post-test was 64.75. It indicated that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It means that the use of Hello English Application to improve students’ vocabulary mastery was highly significant. Keywords: Hello English, Vocabulary
