This study was conducted to investigate the teacher’s method and teaching materials in teaching vocabulary in Toddler class at KES (Kiddos English School). This is a qualitative study. Observation sheet, a set of interview questions and documentation were used as the instrument of the study. The researcher then related and described her field findings in accordance with the experts’ theories. The participant of this study was the English teacher at KES who taught in Toddler class. Toddler is a particular class in KES and consisted of 18 months to 2,5 years old students. It was found that various teaching methodologies were used in the classroom, namely The Total Physical Response followed by The Natural Approach and CLT. It can be considered that TPR and Natural Approach were much more suitable for the learners in Toddler class. Additionally, there was no specific teaching material that the teacher used in her teaching. Music, pictures, and realia played a big role in supporting her teaching and learning activities in the classroom.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui metode pengajaran dan materi ajar apa yang digunakan oleh guru untuk mengajarkan kosa kata Bahasa Inggris di kelas Toddler di KES (Kiddos English School) guna mendukung kegiatan belajar-mengajar. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif-deskriptif, lembar observasi, interview dan dokumentasi adalah instrumen yang digunakan untuk memperoleh data di lapangan. Setelah mendapatkan hasil dari penelitian di lapangan, peneliti lalu mengaitkan hasil tersebut dengan pendapat-pendapat para ahli mengenai metode dan media tersebut. Partisipan pada penelitian ini adalah pengajar Bahasa Inggris di KES yang mengajar di kelas Toddler. Toddler adalah salah satu nama kelas yang terdapat di KES, kelas ini ditujukan untuk para siswa yang berusia 18 bulan hingga 2,5 tahun. Dari hasil penelitian, ditemukan bahwa guru menerapkan metode yang beragam yaitu Total Physical Response, The Natural Approach, dan Communicative Language Teaching. TPR dan The Natural Approach dianggap metode yang paling cocok diterapkan pada kelas Toddler. Di samping itu, tidak ada materi ajar khusus yang digunakan oleh guru dalam mengajar. Penggunaan musik, gambar dan realia memiliki peran penting dalam kegiatan belajar-mengajar di kelas.
