Komunikasi yang efektif merupakan elemen kunci dalam keselamatan pasien. Salah satu jenis komunikasi efektif yang di rekomendasikan oleh World Health Organization (WHO) untuk mengkomunikasikan informasi penting yang membutuhkan perhatian khusus dan tindakan segera yaitu komunikasi SBAR yang terdiri dari Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation. Komunikasi SBAR pada saat handover sangat penting untuk diterapkan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui gambaran persepsi perawat terhadap komunikasi efektif SBAR saat handover di Rumah Sakit Pendidikan Universitas Syiah Kuala. Jenis penelitian kuantitatif, dengan desain penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan cross sectional study. Populasi dalam penelitian ini seluruh perawat yang bekerja di Rumah Sakit Pendidikan Universitas Syiah Kuala dengan Jumlah 36 orang dan pengambilan sampel dengan metode total sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Metode Analisa data menggunakan Analisa Univariat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi komuniksi SBAR perawat dalam pelaksanaan handover yang berada pada kategori baik yaitu sebanyak 33 (91,2%) perawat, kategori cukup sebanyak 2(5.6%) perawat, dan kategori kurang hanya 1(2.8%) perawat, pada setiap tahapan komunikasi SBAR meliputi tahap situation (88.9%), background (66.7%), assesment (91.7 %), dan recommendation (80.6%). Diharapkan pelaksanaan komunikasi efektif SBAR oleh perawat di ruang rawat inap Rumah Sakit Pendidikaan Universitas Syiah Kuala dapat dipertahankan dan ditingkatkan.

Effective communication is a key element in patient safety. One of the effective communication types recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) to communicate essential information that requires special attention and immediate action is SBAR communication which consists of Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation. SBAR communication during handover is very important to implement. In this study, it aimed to determine the description of nurses’ perceptions of effective SBAR communication during handover at the Syiah Kuala University Teaching Hospital. This type of quantitative research, with descriptive research with a cross sectional study approach was employed. The population in this study were all nurses who assigned at the Syiah Kuala University Teaching Hospital with a total of 36 people and samples were taken using the total sampling method. Data collection techniques used questionnaires. For data analysis method, it used univariate analysis. The results of the study showed that the perception of nurses’ SBAR communication in the implementation of handovers was in the good category i.e. 33 (91.2%) nurses, 2 (5.6%) nurses in the adequate category, and only 1 (2.8%) nurse in the poor category, in each SBAR communication stages, it included situation (88.9%), background (66.7%), assessment (91.7%), and recommendation (80.6%). It is recommended that the implementation of effective SBAR communication by nurses in the inpatient ward at Syiah Kuala University Teaching Hospital be maintained and improved.
