ABSTRAK
Pada umumnya model outerwear ini hanya menggunakan kain polos dan juga kain pattern. Hiasan yang digunakan pada outerwear beragam seperti kancing, tali pinggang, dan sulaman. Teknik sulaman sashiko merupakan teknik pemberian motif pada tekstil dengan cara menjelujur menggunakan bahan utama benang dengan beragam pola motif yang unik dan menarik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses pembuatan hiasan sulam sashiko pada busana outerwear dan pengembangannya serta kualitas hasil penerapan teknik sulam sashiko pada busana outerwear berdasarkan penerapan unsur desain dan prinsip desain. Peneliti menggunakan metode eksperimen terapan dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian yaitu 5 panelis dari dosen Pendidikan Kesejahteraan Keluarga Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Syiah Kuala, dan adapun objek dalam penelitian ini adalah hasil penerapan hiasan sulam sashiko pada 3 busana outerwear yang sudah dikerjakan. Pengumpulan data melalui studi kepustakaan, eksperimen terapan, dokumentasi, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian telah membuat 3 produk busana outerwear dengan hiasan sulam sashiko. Hasil wawancara berdasarkan tujuan penelitian dan syarat pembuatan hiasan yang baik diperoleh hasil bahwa hiasan sulam sashiko pada busana outerwear secara keseluruhan sudah sangat baik. Para panelis berpendapat dari segi warna benang dan kain busana dapat divariasikan, setelah itu dari segi peletakan hiasan sudah sesuai, namun pada busana perlu diperhatikan detail-detail kecil pada jahitan yang dapat berpengaruh untuk hasil jahitan busana, selebihnya dari segi kesederhanaan dan keindahan hiasan sudah bagus dan baik. Produk busana dengan hiasan sulam sashiko dibuat untuk mengembangkan hiasan sulam tersebut pada suatu busana, tidak hanya pada satu item fashion namun juga bisa diterapkan pada item fashion lainnya seperti celana, tas, sepatu dengan desain, bentuk, motif dan perpaduan warna yang lebih bervariasi.

ABSTRACT Generally, this outerwear model only uses plain fabric and patterned fabric. The decorations used on outerwear vary, such as buttons, belts and embroidery. The sashiko embroidery technique is a technique of giving motifs to textiles by sewing using thread as the main material with a variety of unique and interesting motif patterns. This research aims to determine the process of making sashiko embroidery decorations on outerwear clothing and its development as well as the quality of the results of applying sashiko embroidery techniques to outerwear clothing based on the application of design elements and design principles. Researchers used applied experimental methods with a qualitative approach. The subjects in the research were 5 panelists from Family Welfare Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Syiah Kuala University lecturers, and the objects in this research were were the results of applying sashiko embroidery decorations to 3 outerwear garments that had been worked on. Data collection through literature study, applied experiments, documentation, and interviews. The results of the research have created 3 outerwear clothing products with sashiko embroidery decoration. The results of interviews based on the research objectives and requirements for making good decorations showed that the sashiko embroidery decorations on outerwear overall were very good. The panelists were of the opinion that in terms of the color of the thread and fabric the clothing can be varied, after that in terms of the placement of the decorations it is appropriate, but in clothing it is necessary to pay attention to small details in the stitching which can influence the results of the clothing stitching, otherwise in terms of simplicity and beauty the decorations are good. and good. Fashion products with sashiko embroidery decoration are made to develop this embroidery decoration on clothing, not only on one fashion item but can also be applied to other fashion items such as trousers, bags, shoes with more varied designs, shapes, motifs and color combinations.
