Puntius brevis merupakan salah satu jenis ikan air tawar yang hidup di danau laut tawar. Studi
kebiasaan makan terhadap organisme akuatik berperan penting dalam usaha budidaya
organisme tersebut, terutama aspek pakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kebiasaan
makan ikan keperas (Puntius brevis) di Perairan Danau Laut Tawar dan Perairan Uning
Kabupaten Aceh Tengah. Pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode
pengambilan sampel acak sederhana. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan untuk mendapatkan
sampel Puntius brevis. Sebanyak 40 sampel Puntius brevis telah didapatkan dan dan bagian
lambung serta ususnya diawetkan menggunakan larutan formalin 4%. Jenis makanan Puntius
brevis diamati metode sapuan dibawah mikroskop di Laboratorium Kesehatan dan
Lingkungan, BBI Lukup Badak, Dinas Perikanan Kabupaten Aceh Tengah. Parameter yang
dihitung, terdiri dari persentase volume, frekuensi kejadian, indeks bagian terbesar makanan
index of propederance, panjang lambung relatif dan penetuan luas relung. Hasil penelitian
menunjukkan komposisi makanan Puntius brevis terdiri dari ranting kayu, serangga, ikan
berukuran kecil, zooplankton, fitoplankton yang terdiri dari 5 kelas (Bacillariophyceae,
Eustigmatophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Euglenozoa, Chlorophyceae). Nilai index of propederance
(IP) menunjukan makanan utama Puntius brevis di semua stasiun adalah fitoplankton yang
memiliki nilai IP sebesar 98.42%, jenis makanan lainya tergolong makanan tambahan karena
nilai ip kurang dari 4%.

Puntius brevis is a freshwater fish species that lives in freshwater lakes. The study of food habits of aquatic organisms plays an important role in the cultivation of these organisms, especially the feed aspect. This study aims to determine the eating habits of keperas (Puntius brevis) in Lake Laut Tawar, Central Aceh Regency. Sampling in this study used a simple random sampling method. Sampling was conducted to obtain samples of Puntius brevis. A total of 40 Puntius brevis samples were obtained and the stomach and intestines were preserved using 4% formalin solution. The food type of Puntius brevis was observed using the sweep method under a microscope at the Health and Environment Laboratory, BBI Lukup Badak, Central Aceh District Fisheries Service. Parameters calculated consisted of volume percentage, frequency of occurrence, index of propenderance, relative stomach length and niche area determination. The results showed that the food composition of Puntius brevis consisted of wood twigs, insects, small fish, zooplankton, phytoplankton consisting of 5 classes (Bacillariophyceae, Eustigmatophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Euglenozoa, Chlorophyceae). The index of propederance (IP) value shows that the main food of Puntius brevis at all stations is phytoplankton which has an IP value of 98.42%, Other types of food are classified as additional food because the IP value is less than 4%.
