Kawasan gedung baru Fakultas Teknik, Universitas Syiah Kuala didapati permasalahan
perparkiran dimana masih banyak di jumpai mahasiswa yang memarkirkan kendaraanya
secara tidak tertib yang dapat menimbulkan kemacetan, kepadatan kendaraan, dan
kesulitan dalam mencari tempat parkir. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut perlu dilakukan
penelitian terkait karakteristik parkir dan kebutuhan parkir. Berdasarkan analisis
karakteristik parkir pada kawasan gedung baru Fakultas Teknik Universitas Syiah Kuala
didapatkan hasil akhir pada zona 3 (tiga) yaitu IP > 1 untuk roda dua dan IP = 1 untuk roda
empat kemudian pada zona 4 (empat) IP > 1 untuk kendaraan roda dua dan roda empat.
Indeks parkir lebih dari 1 (satu) menunjukkan bahwa pada kondisi tersebut akumulasi
parkir melebihi kapasitas parkir yang ada jadi diperlukan penambahan jumlah petak parkir.
Berdasarkan hasil jawaban dari penyebaran kuesioner yang telah dilaksanakan didapatkan
nilai rata-rata kepuasan responden parkir pada kawasan gedung baru Fakultas Teknik
Universitas Syiah Kuala adalah 2,30 atau berada pada tingkat kepuasan yang tidak puas
atas fasilitas perparkiran. Penyebaran kuesioner kepada key informan didapatkan hasil
berupa key informan merasa tidak perlu penambahan lahan parkir hanya saja perlu penataan
kembali terhadap area parkir seperti perlu penambahan marka parkir yang jelas sehingga
memudahkan pemarkir untuk parkir pada tempat yang telah disediakan, penyediaan rambu-rambu parkir seperti dilarang parkir, parkir khusus roda dua atau roda empat saja dan pengelompokan parkir khusus dosen, staff/karyawan. Key informan juga memberikan saran
agar dilakukan pemberian sanksi atau hukuman kepada pemarkir yang masih memarkirkan
kendaraannya di tempat yang tidak seharusnya.

The area of the new Engineering building, Syiah Kuala University Faculty, has parking problems where there are still many students who park their vehicles in not orderly manner which can cause traffic jams, crowded vehicles and difficulty in finding a parking space. Based on these problems, research needs to be carried out regarding parking characteristics and parking needs. Based on the analysis of parking characteristics in the new building area of the Faculty of Engineering, Syiah Kuala University, the final results were obtained in zone 3 (three), namely IP > 1 for two-wheeled vehicles and IP = 1 for four-wheeled vehicles, then in zone 4 (four) IP > 1 for two-wheeled vehicles and four wheels. A parking index of more than 1 (one) indicates that in this condition the parking accumulation exceeds the existing parking capacity so that an additional number of parking lots is required. Based on the results of the answers from the distribution of questionnaires that have been carried out, the average value of respondents satisfaction with parking in the new building area of the Faculty of Engineering, Syiah Kuala University is 2.30 or at the level of dissatisfaction with parking facilities. Distribution of questionnaires to key informants obtained results in the form of key informants who felt that there was no need for additional parking spaces, only that the parking area needed to be rearranged, such as adding clear parking markings to make it easier for drivers to park in the spaces provided, providing parking signs such as no parking, special parking for two-wheelers or four-wheelers only and special parking groupings for lecturers, staff/employees. Key informants also suggested giving sanctions or punishments to parkers who still park their vehicles in places where they should not be. Keywords: Parking, parking characteristics, parking needs
