Penelitian kualitatif deskriptif ini bertujuan untuk melihat kejutan budaya yang dialami mahasiswa Thailand selama mereka belajar di Banda Aceh dan untuk mendeskripsikan cara mereka mengatasi kejutan budaya tersebut. Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari empat siswa asal Thailand. Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui wawancara terhadap siswa Thailand. Data direkam melalui ponsel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua mahasiswa Thailand merasakan panggung bulan madu sedangkan dua pelajar Thailand lainnya tidak merasakan panggung bulan madu. Empat mahasiswa asal Thailand merasakan tahap krisis selama menempuh studi di Banda Aceh. Untuk pulih dari fase krisis, mahasiswa Thailand berusaha memahami dan menerima perbedaan budaya Thailand dan Aceh. Pada tahap penyesuaian, mereka hidup damai dan gembira. Empat mahasiswa asal Thailand punya cara berbeda dalam mengatasi gegar budaya yang terjadi selama mereka kuliah di Banda Aceh.

This descriptive qualitative research is aimed to look into the culture shocks by Thai students during their study in Banda Aceh and to descrive the way they resolve the culture shocks. The data in this study were obtained from four Thai students. The data of this research were collecting by interview for Thai students. The data were rocorded by mobile phone. The results show that the two Thai students felt honeymoon stage beside two other Thai students did not feel honemoon stage. Four Thai students feel the crisis stage during their study in Banda Aceh. To recovery from the crisis phase, Thai students tried to understand and accept the differences between Thai and Acehnese culture. During the adjustment stage, they live peacefully and joyfully. Four Thai students has different way to resolve the culture shocks during their study in Banda Aceh
