Kulit merupakan bagian terluar dari permukaan tubuh yang berperan untuk menutupi serta melindungi organ di bawahnya dari gangguan fisik ataupun kimiawi. Sinar UV menjadi salah satu penyebab kerusakan kulit karena sinar UV dapat memicu terbentuknya radikal bebas pada kulit. Minyak serai wangi merupakan salah satu minyak atsiri yang mengandung antioksidan alami sehingga memiliki potensi untuk dikembangkan sebagai produk kosmetik perawatan kulit berupa body butter. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membuat formulasi sediaan body butter dari minyak serai wangi yang memenuhi parameter mutu sediaan, menentukan aktivitas antioksidan sediaan dan konsentrasi minyak serai wangi dalam sediaan yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan terbaik. Metode yang digunakan adalah formulasi dan evaluasi sediaan. Uji aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan metode DPPH. Nilai IC50 minyak serai wangi sebesar 18,80 ppm dan vitamin C sebesar 2,22 ppm. Konsentrasi minyak serai wangi yang digunakan dalam formulasi adalah F0 (0%), F1 (0,0036%), dan F2 (0,0054%). Hasil uji evaluasi yaitu organoleptis F0, F1, dan F2 berwarna putih tulang dengan tekstur sangat kental dan aroma dari F0 adalah khas cocoa butter, F1 dan F2 khas serai wangi, setiap formulasi sediaan homogen, uji pH F0 (5,0±0,0), F1 (5,3±0,6), dan F2 (5,3±0,6), uji daya sebar F0 (5,58±0,02), F1 (5,59±0,02), dan F2 (5,60±0,01), uji daya lekat F0 (511,64±0,42), F1 (11,64± 0,52), dan F2 (11,65±0,01), uji viskositas F0 (15.964 ±639), F1 (15.739±364) dan F2 (15.651±329), indeks iritasi setiap formula sebesar 0. Nilai IC50 sediaan F0 (175,30 ppm), F1 (90,87 ppm) dan F2 (78,01 ppm). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah body butter dari minyak serai wangi memenuhi persyaratan mutu sediaan, aktivitas antioksidan minyak serai wangi sangat kuat, dan aktivitas antioksidan kuat pada F2.

Skin is the most external part of the body's surface that helps to cover and protect the underlying organs from physical or chemical interference. UV rays are one of the causes of skin damage because they stimulate the formation of free radicals in the skin. Citronella oil is an essential oil that contains natural antioxidants therefore it has the potential to be developed as a skin care cosmetic product such as body butter. The purpose of this study is to formulate a body butter from citronella oil that fulfilled the quality requirements of the good preparation, determine the antioxidant activity of the product and the concentration of citronella oil in the product that had the best antioxidant activity. The method used is formulation and evaluation of the product. Antioxidant activity test of the preparation using the DPPH method. The IC50 value of citronella oil is 18.80 ppm and vitamin C 2.22 ppm. The concentrations of citronella oil used in the formulations are F0 (0%), F1 (0.0036%), and F2 (0.0054%). The results of the evaluation test include organoleptical F0, F1, and F2 is bone white color with a very thick texture and the aroma of F0 is typical of cocoa butter, F1 and F2 are typical of citronella, each formulation is homogeneous, pH test F0 (5, 0±0.0), F1 (5.3±0.6), and F2 (5.3±0.6), spreadability test F0 (5.58±0.02), F1 (5.59±0.02), and F2 (5.60±0.01), stickiness test F0 (511.64±0.42), F1 (11.64±0.52), and F2 (11.65±0.01), viscosity test F0 (15. 964 ±639), F1 (15,739 ±364) and F2 (15,651 ±329), irritation index of each formula was 0. The IC50 value of the preparation F0 (175.30 ppm), F1 (90.87 ppm) and F2 (78.01 ppm). The conclusion of this study is body butter from citronella oil fulfills the quality requirements of the preparation, the antioxidant activity of citronella oil is very strong, and the antioxidant activity is strong in F2.
