Osteoporosis is a disease that is growing at a slow and gradual and patients often do not realize reduction in bone density until they suffer a fracture. Women more often have osteoporosis and more extensive than in men because of peak bone mass is also lower and the loss of hormones during menopause. Many people, especially women who responded to cause less osteoporosis. This research aims to reveal perceptions about the cause of osteoporosis, menopausal women in the village of Ateuk Jawo Baiturrahman Banda Aceh District Descriptive exploratory research design. The sampling technique was done by purposive sampling method in 43 respondents. Data
collection was conducted from April 12 until April 15, 2010 in the Village District Ateuk Jawo Baiturrahman Banda Aceh, Data collection tool shaped like questionnaire Likert scale and check list that consists of 20 items which were tested in a statement. Based on the results of research indicates that most menopausal women have negative perceptions of amounting to 58.14% of the causes of osteoporosis. Negative perception of nutrition at 58.14%, a positive perception of the lifestyle of 58.14%, a positive perception of the hormone of 58.14%, negative perception of the disease Expected to related parties in order to improve health promotion of the cause, identify the hazards and prevention of osteoporosis, so that the community care of osteoporosis.
