Kualitas semen kambing Gembrong lebih rendah dibandingkan kambing lainnya dan kemungkinan terkait dengan rendahnya konsentrasi hormon testosteron. Implementasi teknologi reproduksi menggunakan hormon prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan hormon testosteron kambing Gembrong. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pemberian PGF2α secara in vivo terhadap peningkatan testosteron kambing Gembrong. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Loka Penelitian Kambing Potong Sei Putih, Deli Serdang, Sumatera Utara. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan kambing Gembrong jantan (n=4), berumur 2,5-4 tahun dan memiliki skor kondisi tubuh (SKT) yang sama, yakni SKT=3. Kambing dibagi ke dalam dua kelompok perlakuan (n=2) yakni Kelompok 1 (K1), yang mendapat perlakuan injeksi dengan 75 μg (1 ml) PGF2α dan Kelompok 2 (K2), yang mendapat injeksi 1 ml NaCl fisiologis. Injeksi dilakukan secara intramuskulus. Koleksi semen dilakukan menggunakan vagina buatan 30 menit setelah perlakuan. Pengukuran kadar testosteron dilakukan dengan metode enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Data yang terkumpul ditabulasi dan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata konsentrasi testosteron K1 lebih tinggi dibandingkan K2 dengan konsentrasi masing-masing adalah 6,41±0,70 dan 2,81±1,75 ng/ml. Disimpulkan bahwa pemberian PGF2α secara in vivo dapat meningkatkan konsentrasi testosteron pada kambing Gembrong.

The semen quality of Gembrong goats is lower than that of other goats and is likely related to the low concentration of the hormone testosterone. Implementation of reproductive technology using the hormone prostaglandin F2a (PGF2a) can be done to increase the hormone testosterone goat Gembrong. The research was carried out at the Sei Putih Slaughter Goat Research Workshop, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. In this study, used male Gembrong (n = 4), aged 2,5-4 years and has an average score of body condition (BCS) the same (BCS=3). Goats were divided into two treatment groups (n=2), namely Group 1 (K1), which received an injection treatment with 75 μg (1 ml) PGF2α and Group 2 (K2), which received an injection of 1 ml of physiological NaCl. The injection is done intramuscularly. Semen collection is carried out using an artificial vaginal 30 minutes after treatment. Measurement of testosterone levels is carried out by the method of enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The Parameter measured is the concentration of testosterone in the seminal plasma. The collected Data were tabulated and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the average concentration of testosterone K1 was higher than K2 with concentrations of 6.41±0.70 and 2.81±1.75 ng/ml. It was concluded that in vivo administration of PGF2a can increase testosterone concentration in Gembrong goats. Key words: Gembrong goats, prostaglandine f2α, seminal plasma, testosterone.
