Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan Pendekatan terbuka atau tidak diakhiri efektif dalam meningkatkan ‘berbicara Kelas Kesepuluh SMAN 1 Syamtalira Aron. Metode yang digunakan adalah desain eksperimental dengan lima kali pertemuan, Selanjutnya, sampel penelitian ini adalah 50 siswa; 23 siswa dalam kelompok eksperimental dan 27 siswa di kelompok kontrol. Dalam mengumpulkan data, penulis melakukan pre-test dan post-test terdiri dari tiga pertanyaan. Dalam menganalisis data, penulis menggunakan t-tes. Hasil dari data anlisis menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh dari kelompok eksperimental lebih tinggi dari pada kelompok kontrol. Mean dari pre-test dan post-test adalah 56,0 dan 77,6. Sedangkan mean dari pre-test dan post-test pada kelompok kontrol adalah 53,8 dan 60,37. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa signifikan (a) dari 5% adalah 14. Ini lebih tinggi dari nilai t-table 1,67 (t-test)> (t-table). Disimpulkan bahwa ada dampak dari penggunaan pendekatan Open-Ended pada keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas sepuluh dalam pengucapan, kosakata, tata bahasa, dan kelancaran. Hipotesis (Ha) diterima dan hipotesis null (H0) ditolak. Dalam kata lain, terdapat perbedaan besar dalam nilai berbicara antara siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan pendekatan Open-Ended dan mereka yang diajarkan tanpa menggunakan Open-Ended di SMAN 1 Syamtalira Aron. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa menggunakan Pendekatan Open-Ended efektif dalam mengajar siswa Kelas Sepuluh di SMAN 1 Syamtalira Aron.

The objective of this research is to find out whether or not the use of an Open-Ended Approach is effective to improve students’ speaking of the Tenth Grade of SMAN 1 Syamtalira Aron. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with five meetings treatments, Furthermore, the sample of this study was 50 students; 23 students in the experimental group and 27 students in the control group. In collecting the data, the writer conducted a pre-test and post-test consisting of three questions. In analyzing the data, the writer used a t-test. The result of the data analysis showed that the average gained score of the experimental group is higher than the control group. The mean of the pre-test and post-test of the experimental group were 56.0 and 77.6. While the mean of the pre-test and post-test of the control group were 53.8 and 60.37. The result showed that the significance degree (a) of 5% was 14. It is higher than the t-table value 1.67 (t-test) > (t-table). It inferred that there were the impact of the use Open-Ended Approach on tenth-grade students’ speaking skills in pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and fluency. Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. in other words, there was a significant difference in speaking scores between the students who are taught by using the Open-Ended approach and those who are taught without using Open-Ended approach at SMAN 1 Syamtalira Aron. Therefore, it was concluded that using Open-Ended Approach was effective in teaching speaking for Tenth Grade Students at SMAN 1 Syamtalira Aron.
