Hernia Nukleus Pulposus (HNP) lumbal merupakan penyebab tersering Low Back Pain (LBP) dengan keluhan nyeri yang dapat mengganggu aktivitas sehari-hari dan menyebabkan penurunan produktivitas dalam pekerjaan. Salah satu modalitas fisioterapi dari rehabilitasi medik yang digunakan dalam menurunkan nyeri adalah Microwave Diathermy (MWD). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran efek terapi MWD terhadap skala nyeri pada pasien HNP lumbal di RSUD dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif observasional yang dilaksanakan di Instalasi Rehabilitasi Medik RSUD dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah consecutive sampling. Penelitian ini melibatkan 24 pasien rawat jalan HNP lumbal. Data yang dikumpulkan dari pasien terkait usia, jenis kelamin dan pekerjaan. Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT) diperoleh dari hasil pengukuran berat dan tinggi badan. Pengukuran skala nyeri menggunakan NRS (Numeric Rating Scale) dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah terapi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa skala nyeri mayoritas pasien HNP lumbal adalah nyeri berat (50%) sebelum terapi 1, nyeri sedang (50%) sesudah terapi 1, nyeri sedang (54,2%) sebelum terapi 2, dan nyeri ringan (50%) sesudah terapi. Nilai median skala nyeri menunjukkan penurunan dari 6-7(3) sebelum terapi 1 menjadi 3-4(3) sesudah terapi 2. Adapun efek terapi MWD lebih baik pada pasien perempuan, usia >60 tahun, pekerjaan tidak beresiko HNP dan IMT

Lumbar Herniated Nucleus Pulposus (HNP) is the most common cause of Low Back Pain (LBP) with complaints of pain that can interfere with daily activities and cause decreased productivity at work. One of the physiotherapy modalities of medical rehabilitation that is used to reduce pain is Microwave Diathermy (MWD). This study aims to describe the effect of MWD therapy on pain scale in lumbar HNP patients at dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh. This type of research is an observational descriptive which was carried out at the Medical Rehabilitation Installation of RSUD dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh. The sampling technique used is consecutive sampling. This study involved 24 outpatients with lumbar HNP. Data collected from patients related to age, gender and occupation. Body Mass Index (BMI) is obtained from the results of measuring weight and height. Pain scale measurements using the NRS (Numeric Rating Scale) were carried out before and after therapy. The results showed that the pain scale of the majority of lumbar HNP patients was severe pain (50%) before therapy 1, moderate pain (50%) after therapy 1, moderate pain (54.2%) before therapy 2, and mild pain (50%) after therapy. The median value of the pain scale showed a decrease from 6-7(3) before therapy 1 to 3-4(3) after therapy 2. The effect of MWD therapy was better in female patients, age >60 years, work not at risk of HNP and BMI
