Baree merupakan filum dari Brachiopoda yang umumnya hidup di dasar perairan dangkal, hidup berkelompok dan dapat berpindah tempat dengan tangkai yang berfungsi sebagai tongkat, pergerakan ini terjadi akibat adanya pasang surut air. Organisme ini hidup di pasir berlumpur. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret-Mei 2022 yang berlokasi di perairan Krueng Raya Aceh Besar. Tujuan dilakukan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui biologi reproduksi baree di perairan Krueng Raya, Aceh Besar melalui pendekatan rasio kelamin, Indeks Kematangan Gonad (IKG), Tingkat Kematangan Gonad (TKG) dan Indeks Berat Daging (IBD). Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu metode purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa frekuensi rasio kelamin pada baree yaitu 1:1,07 dengan presentasi 47,52% baree jantan dan 52,48% baree betina. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa rasio baree jantan dan betina berbeda yang artinya rasio ini menyimpang dari nilai ideal yaitu 1:1 (Khairiyah et al, 2019). Berdasarkan nilai Indeks Kematangan Gonad (IKG) yang didapat menunjukkan bahwa nilai IKG betina lebih banyak daripada IKG jantan. TKG yang didapat menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kematangan gonad yang dominan yaitu di TKG IV. Kemudian untuk Analisa Indeks Berat Daging (IBD) dengan rata-rata presentase tertinggi bernilai 36,63% yang terdapat pada stasiun 3. Secara umum lokasi Krueng Raya menunjukkan kualitas perairan yang kurang stabil hal ini diduga karena masyarakat setempat ada yang mengekspoitasi baree di setiap minggu yang menghambat perkembangbiakan baree sehingga keberadaannya pun hampir susah ditemukan.

Baree is a phylum of brachiopods that generally live on the bottom of shallow waters, live in groups and can move around with a stalk that functions as a stick, this movement occurs due to the tides. These organisms live in muddy sand. This research was conducted in March-May 2022 which is located in the waters of Krueng Raya Aceh Besar. The purpose of this study was to determine the reproductive biology of baree in Krueng Raya waters, Aceh Besar through the approach of sex ratio, Gonad Maturity Index (IKG), Gonad Maturity Level (TKG) and Meat Weight Index (IBD). The method used in this research is purposive sampling method. The results showed that the frequency of the sex ratio in barees was 1:1,07 with a presentation of 47.52% male barees and 52.48% female barees. This shows that the ratio of male and female barees is different, which means that this ratio deviates from the ideal value of 1:1 (Khairiyah et al, 2019). Based on the Gonad Maturity Index (IKG) values obtained, it shows that the female IKG values are higher than the male IKG. The TKG obtained showed that the dominant level of gonad maturity was TKG IV. Then for Meat Weight Index Analysis (IBD) with the highest average percentage of 36.63% found at station 3. In general, the Krueng Raya location shows less stable water quality, this is suspected because the local people exploit barees every week which inhibits the breeding of barees so that their existence is almost hard to find.
