Penelitian ini menyelidiki penggunaan tindak ilokusi dalam novel Refrain karya Winna Efendi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk mengidentifikasi dan mengklasifikasikan jenis-jenis tindak ilokusi dalam Refrain karya Winna Efendi, dan (2) untuk mengidentifikasi tindak ilokusi langsung dan tidak langsung yang terdapat dalam Refrain karya Winna Efendi. Ini menerapkan teori Searle dan 5 klasifikasinya, yaitu representative, directives, commisives, expressives, dan declaratives. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif untuk mengklasifikasikan dan menganalisis ujaran-ujaran tersebut. Peneliti melakukan observasi dengan membaca novel setebal 317 halaman. Dari 136 ujaran relevan yang dikumpulkan dalam penelitian ini, semua jenis tindak ilokusi teridentifikasi dalam novel, termasuk tindak tutur langsung dan tidak langsung. Setelah analisis, peneliti menemukan bahwa representatif dominan dalam novel, terutama subkategori menginformasikan dan yang paling sedikit digunakan adalah jenis tindak tutur deklaratif, ada satu ucapan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan kontribusi perkembangan bahasa dalam studi linguistik khususnya dalam menganalisis tindak ilokusi melalui analisis pragmatik dan diharapkan dapat membantu mahasiswa Jurusan Bahasa Inggris dalam memahami tindak ilokusi sehingga mereka dapat mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis tindak ilokusi. dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

This research investigated the use of illocutionary acts in the novel Refrain by Winna Efendi. The objectives of the study are (1) to identify and classify the types of illocutionary acts in Winna Efendi's Refrain, and (2) to identify the direct and indirect illocutionary acts are found in Winna Efendi's Refrain. It applied Searle’s theory and his 5 classifications, which are representatives, directives, commisives, expressives, and declaratives. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative method to classify and analyze the utterances. Researcher conducted observation by reading the novel with a 317 pages. From all 136 relevant utterances collected in this study, all of the types of illocutionary acts were identified in the novel, including direct, indirect speech acts. After the analysis, the researcher found that representatives was dominant in the novel, especially informing subcategory and the least used is the types of declarative speech act, there is one utterance. The outcome of this study is to give contribution of the language development in linguistic studies especially in analyzing illocutionary acts through pragmatic analysis and to be expected to help the students of English Departement in understanding the illocutionary act so that they can identify and analyze the illocutionary act in daily life.
