Budaya dan adat merupakan kebiasaan yang telah berlaku antara generasi
dalam suatu masyarakat, dimana keberadaannya berfungsi sebagai pendoman dalam
berpikir dan bertindak pada masyarakat tersebut. Masyarakat Gayo yang menetap di
Bnada Aceh memadukan budaya dan adat perkawinan Gayo dengan adat dan budaya
Aceh Pesisir. Sehingga perlu dikaji bagaimana eksistensi keberlangsugan saat ini.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui eksistensi penyelanggaraan adat
budaya perkawinan Gayo yang dilaksanakan di Banda Aceh, mengidentifikasi
tahapan atau prosesi upacara perkawinan Gayo, dan mengetahui pengaruh
kebudayaan lain terhadap adat perkawinan Gayo di Banda Aceh. Subjek pada
penelitian ini berjumlah 4 (empat) orang yang terdiri dari 3 orang yang melakukan
prosesi perkawinan dan 1 orang tokoh adat Gayo. Penentuan subjek dalam penelitian
ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa
tahapan prosesi upacara perkawinan adat Gayo di Banda Aceh terdiri dari: proses
kegiatan sebelum pernikahan yang terdiri dari 4 (empat) bagian: kusik, sisu, pakok,
dan paden; persiapan pernikahan terbagi enam bagian: risik, resek, rise, kono, kite
dan teniron; pelaksanaan pernikahan dibagi menjadi delapan bagian; berguru,
nyerah, bejege, mah bai, beru, musyawah ukum, upacara dalem dan membilang mas
dan upacara setelah pernikahan terdiri 2 (dua) bagian mah beru dan mah kero. Dari
semua tahapan tersebut ada beberapa tahapan yang mengiringi adat perkawinan Aceh
Pesisir seperti malam berinai, pesijuk, tukar batil (tempat sirih), makan besan pada
hari resepsi (makan bersama keluarga pengantin), hiasan kepala dan warna pelaminan
yang cenderung warna cerah. Pengantin telah mengadakan upacara perkawinan adat
Gayo di Banda Aceh dan hal ini terjadi karena pengaruh dari budaya warga dengan
berbagai suku berdomisili dalam satu daerah.

Culture and customs are habits that have been in effect between generations in a society, where its existence serves as a guide in think and act in society. Gayo people who live in Banda Aceh combines the culture and customs of Gayo marriage with customs and culture Coastal Aceh. So it is necessary to study how the existence of the current continuity. The purpose of this study is to determine the existence of customary administration Gayo marriage culture carried out in Banda Aceh, identify the stages or procession of the Gayo wedding ceremony, and knowing the influence another culture towards Gayo marriage customs in Banda Aceh. Subject on This study amounted to 4 (four) people consisting of 3 people who did wedding procession and 1 traditional Gayo figure. Determination of subjects in research This study uses a purposive sampling technique. The research results show that the stages of the Gayo traditional wedding ceremony procession in Banda Aceh consist of: process pre-wedding activities consisting of 4 (four) parts: kusik, sisu, pakok, and Paden; wedding preparations are divided into six parts: risk, resek, rise, kono, kite and teniron; the implementation of the marriage is divided into eight parts; study, surrender, bejege, mah bai, beru, legal meeting, ceremonial palace and counting mas and the ceremony after the wedding consists of 2 (two) parts, mah beru and mah kero. From of all these stages there are several stages that accompany Acehnese wedding customs The coast is like a night of henna, pesijuk, exchanging vanity (place for betel), eating besan on the day of the reception (eating with the bride and groom's family), the headdress and the color of the aisle tend to be bright in color. The bride and groom have held a traditional wedding ceremony Gayo in Banda Aceh and this happened because of the influence of the culture of the people with various tribes living in one area.
