ABSTRAK


Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui motif sebab (because motive) dan motif
akibat (in order to motive) dari tindakan body shaming yang dilakukan oleh
pelaku yaitu remaja kepada korban di media sosial Instagram. Penelitian ini
menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode studi kasus. Akun
Instagram yang menjadi objek dalam penelitian ini adalah akun @herlinkenza.
Dalam penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan teori Alfred schutz mengenai because
motive dan in order to motive. Informan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah tujuh
orang remaja berusia 18-24 yang melakukan body shaming di akun @herlinkenza.
Hasil yang ditemukan dalam penelitian ini adalah jenis body shaming yang paling
dominan terjadi adalah face shaming. Dari hasil yang didapatkan ditemukan
bahwa motif sebab (because motive) tindakan body shaming yang telah dilakukan
di akun Instagram @herlinkenza merujuk kepada motif pernah menjadi korban
dan motif pengaruh lingkungan sosial yang mana dalam kehidupan sehari-hari
pun mereka kerap melakukan body shaming secara virtual maupun langsung.
Maka disimpulkan bahwa tindakan body shaming merupakan hal yang biasa
terjadi di kalangan mereka. Ditemukan pula motif akibat (in order to motive)
merujuk kepada motif menjatuhkan harga diri korban karena merasa bahwa
perempuan jika dihina fisiknya maka psikologisnya juga ikut terkena, motif
menghilangkan penat ketika sedang merasa bosan, motif ikut-ikutan yang sedang
viral dengan merasa aman di balik komentar negatif yang ramai, motif kepuasan
diri karena telah mengeluarkan unek-unek dan motif pengungkapan emosi karena
tidak suka dan merasa kesal dengan penampilan pemilik akun Instagram
@herlinkenza.

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the cause motive (because motive) and the motive of the effect (in order to motive) of the body shaming action carried out by the perpetrator, namely teenagers, to the victim on Instagram social media. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method. The Instagram account that was the object of this study was the @herlinkenza account. In this study, researchers used Alfred schutz's theory regarding because motive and in order to motive. The informants in this study were teenagers aged 18-24 who performed body shaming on @herlinkenza accounts. The results found in this study are that the most dominant type of body shaming that occurs is face shaming. From the results obtained, it was found that the motive for the cause (because motive) of the body shaming action that had been carried out on the Instagram account @herlinkenza referring to the motive of having been a victim and the motive of the influence of the social environment where in everyday life they often do body shaming virtually or directly. So it was concluded that the act of body shaming is a common thing among them. It was also found that the motive (in order to motive) refers to the motive of lowering the victim's self-esteem because she feels that the woman if physically insulted then her psychological is also affected, the motive of relieving fatigue when she is feeling bored, the motive of participating in the viral by feeling safe behind the crowded negative comments, the motive of self-satisfaction for issuing unexplained feelings and the motive for expressing emotions because they do not like and feel annoyed by the appearance of appearance the owner of the Instagram account @herlinkenza.
