Pandemi virus corona (Covid-19) telah menyebar dengan cepat ke seluruh dunia, termasuk sistem pendidikan. Kebijakan belajar dari rumah selama wabah Covid-19 menimbulkan masalah baru dalam sistem belajar mengajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan sejumlah strategi yang diterapkan serta permasalahan yang dihadapi guru dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran online di masa pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan metode kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah tiga orang guru bahasa Inggris. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara yang dikumpulkan dari tiga guru bahasa Inggris di SMA Negeri 4 Banda Aceh. Temuan menunjukkan ada dua strategi pengajaran yang diterapkan oleh guru, yaitu; menerapkan online chat WhatsApp dan menjaga interaksi dengan orang tua siswa untuk mendukung aktivitas siswa dan menjelaskan rencana pembelajaran saat proses belajar mengajar online. Beberapa masalah juga muncul selama pembelajaran online, total 9 masalah. Permasalahan pengajaran yang muncul antara lain: akses internet, ketidakmampuan mengakses teknologi, kesulitan dalam menjelaskan materi, fleksibilitas dalam mengontrol dan mengatur kegiatan siswa, ketidakdisiplinan, memakan waktu, kurangnya motivasi siswa, siswa tidak hadir di kelas online, dan terakhir dukungan orang tua. sistem.
The corona viruses (Covid-19) pandemic has spread rapidly all over the world, including the education system. To policy the study from home during the Covid-19 outbreak caused new problem in teaching learning system. The study aimed to identify and described a number of strategies implemented as well as the problems faced by teachers in implementing online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research was using a qualitative method approach. The research subject are three English teachers. The data gathered through observation and interview which were collected from three English teachers at SMA Negeri 4 Banda Aceh. The findings shown there are two teaching srategies applied by teachers, namely; applying online chat of WhatsApp and keeping the interaction with the students’ parent in order to support the students activities and to explain the lesson plans while online learning teaching and learning process. Some of problems also emerged during online learning, the total of 9 problems. The arisen of teaching problems were: internet access, disability in accessing technology, difficult in explaining the materials, flexibility in controlling and managing students activities, indiscipline, time consuming, lack students’ motivation, students absent in online class, and the last parents support system.
