Perairan Barat Aceh adalah salah satu perairan yang dipengaruhi oleh beberapa fenomena oseanografi, salah satunya adalah pola angin munson yang berubah-ubah sehingga menyebabkan adanya dinamika temperatur. Mixed Layer Depth (MLD) terjadi karena adanya pengadukan massa air oleh angin di permukaan laut yang menyebabkan suhu dilapisan tersebut cenderung sama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan dan mendapatkan informasi suhu permukaan laut di perairan Barat Aceh pada musim timur laut (Januari) dan barat daya (Agustus), mendapatkan profil Mixed Layer Depth (MLD) di perairan Barat Aceh selama musim yang berbeda (Januari dan Agustus 2018). Metode yang digunakan adalah metode analisis deskriptif. Hasil yang didapat adalah suhu permukaan laut di perairan Barat Aceh berdasarkan data HYCOM (Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model ) dan MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometers) pada bulan Januari berkisar antara 27.5°C - 29°C. Kedalaman Mixed Layer Depth (MLD) pada bulan Januari transek 1 (utara) yaitu 0 – 45 m dengan kecepatan angin 3m/s, transek 2 (tengah) yaitu 0 – 40 m dengan kecepatan angin 2m/s, transek 3 (selatan) yaitu 0 – 40 m dengan kecepatan angin 2m/s. Suhu permukaan laut Perairan Barat Aceh pada bulan Agustus adalah 27.5°C - 29°C. Kedalaman Mixed Layer Depth (MLD) pada transek 1 (utara) yaitu 0 – 71 m dengan kecepatan angin 5m/s, transek 2 (tengah) yaitu 0 – 70 m dengan kecepatan angin 4m/s, transek 3 (selatan) yaitu 0 – 70 m dengan kecepatan angin 3m/s. Mixed Layer Depth lebih dangkal pada bulan Januari dan sangat dalam pada bulan Agustus, hal ini disebabkan oleh angin kencang yang terjadi pada musim barat daya (Agustus).

The waters of West Aceh are one of the waters that are influenced by several oceanographic phenomena, one of which is the changing pattern of the monsoon winds causing temperature dynamics. Mixed Layer Depth (MLD) occurs because of the stirring of the water mass by the wind at the sea surface which causes the temperature in the layers to tend to be the same. This study aims to map and obtain information on sea surface temperatures in the waters of West Aceh in the northeast (January) and southwest (August) seasons, obtain a Mixed Layer Depth (MLD) profile in the waters of West Aceh during different seasons (January and August 2018). The method used is descriptive analysis method. The results obtained are sea surface temperatures in the waters of West Aceh based on HYCOM (Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model) and MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometers) data in January ranging from 27.5°C - 29°C. The Mixed Layer Depth (MLD) in January transect 1 (north) is 0-45 m with a wind speed of 3m/s, transect 2 (middle) is 0-40 m with a wind speed of 2m/s, transect 3 (south) is 0 – 40 m with a wind speed of 2m/s. The sea surface temperature in the West Aceh waters in August is 27.5°C - 29°C. The Mixed Layer Depth (MLD) on transect 1 (north) is 0 – 71 m with a wind speed of 5 m/s, transect 2 (middle) is 0 – 70 m with a wind speed of 4 m/s, transect 3 (south) is 0 – 70 m with a wind speed of 3m/s. Mixed Layer Depth is shallower in January and very deep in August, this is due to the strong winds that occur in the southwest monsoon (August).
