Nurses are one of the health professions that are very vulnerable to violence in the workplace. Violence in the form of physical and non-physical/psychological against nurses can have a negative impact on the quality of work and services. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between clinical nurse career paths, overtime and safety climate with workplace violence (physical violence and psychological violence) against nurses at the Regional General Hospital dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh. This type of research is quantitative with a cross sectional study design. The sample of this study used the total sampling method with respondents who met the inclusion criteria as many as 127 respondents. The violence data collection tool uses the Workplace Violence In The Health Sector (WPVHS) questionnaire and the safety climate using the Nordic Occupational Safety Climate Questionnaire (NOSACQ-50) questionnaire. Career path and overtime variables were obtained from demographic data. The data analysis is descriptive statistics, chi square test and logistic regression test. The results showed that career path variables, overtime and safety climate had no relationship with physical violence, but these variables had a relationship with psychological/non-physical violence, namely career path p-value = 0.000, overtime p-value = 0.000 and safety climate p -value = 0.020. Overtime was the factor most related to psychological/non-physical violence with Odds Ratio = 4.553. Based on the results of the study proves that nurses have the potential to experience violence in the workplace. Low career paths, excess working hours and a negative safety climate are predictors of violence. Violence can reduce nurse performance, increase turnover, anxiety, work stress, depression, sleep disturbances, high levels of fatigue, post traumatic syndrome (PTSD), physical injury and death.
