Meningkatnya beban kerja mental perawat disebabkan karena adanya stress kerja yang dialaminya. Kelelahan pada seorang perawat dapat menurunkan performa yang maksimal serta kemampuan intelektual dan fisiknya. Dampak dari peningkatan tersebut akan beresiko tinggi terhadap kesalahan dalam melakukan suatu tindakan yang dapat membahayakan pasien. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan beban kerja mental perawat terhadap penerapan keselamatan pasien di Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif korelatif dengan pendekatan cross-sectional study. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik total sampling yang melibatkan 125 perawat pelaksana yang bekerja di 5 ruang perawatan intensif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan dua kuesioner, yaitu NASA-TLX dan penerapan keselamatan pasien. Hasil penelitian terdapat 100 perawat (80,0%) dalam beban kerja mental sedang dan 83 perawat (66,4%) baik dalam penerapan keselamatan pasien. Hasil analisis menggunakan uji Chi-square dengan nilai p-value (0,000) < α (0,05). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan bermakna antara beban kerja mental perawat terhadap penerapan keselamatan pasien. Diharapkan bagi tim manajemen rumah sakit agar dapat memfasilitasi perawat ruang ICU untuk melakukan studi banding (private hospital between public hospital) tentang beban kerja mental perawat ke luar negeri.

The increasing mental workload of nurses is caused by the work stress they experience. Fatigue in a nurse prevents them from showing maximum performance as well as intellectual and physical abilities. The impact of fatigue on nurses is the increased risk for errors in performing their duties which will put the patients in danger. This study examined the relationship between the mental workload of nurses on the implementation of patient safety at the dr. Zainoel Abidin Regional General Hospital of Banda Aceh. This study used a correlative quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 125 nurses who work in 5 intensive care rooms were chosen as samples through the total sampling technique. Questionnaires of NASA-TLX and the application of patient safety were used as the instruments for the data collection. The results revealed that 100 nurses (80.0%) had a moderate mental workload and 83 nurses (66.4%) had a good application of patient safety. The Chi-square test showed a p-value of (0.000) < α (0.05). These results confirm that the mental workload of nurses and the application of patient safety are significantly correlated. The hospital management team are urged to facilitate ICU nurses to conduct comparative studies (private hospital between public hospitals) about the mental workload of nurses abroad.
