Teripang merupakan salah satu sumber daya hayati laut yang hidup berdekatan dengan habitat terumbu karang. Dibandingkan dengan echinodermata lainnya, biota laut ini dikenal sebagai sumber daya perikanan dengan nilai ekonomi yang cukup besar. Perburuan teripang untuk tujuan komersial telah mencapai puncaknya. Hal ini disebabkan karena teripang bergerak lambat dan berukuran besar, sehingga lebih mudah untuk ditangkap. Hal ini diduga menjadi salah satu faktor penyebab penurunan kepadatan dan ukuran jenis teripang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat komposisi hasil tangkapan, status konservasi, dan kepadatan stok teripang di perairan Desa Air Pinang Kecamatan Simeulue Timur Kabupaten Simeulue. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan September hingga November 2020, dan sampel nelayan dipilih dengan menggunakan metode Accidental Sampling. The book Fish Finder: Commercially important sea cucumbers of the world digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi spesies teripang. Menurut temuan, teripang terdiri dari 17 spesies, dengan Bohadschia similis menyumbang 46,97%, Stichopus horrens 15,96%, dan Actinopyga lecanora, Holothuria nobilis, dan Pearsonothuria graffei 0,22%. Menurut Red List IUCN, dua spesies teripang, Holothuria nobilis dan Thelenota ananas, terancam punah. Di Desa Air Pinang, kepadatan stok teripang adalah 0,38 ind/ha, dengan luas sampel 407,27 ha.

Sea cucumbers are one of the marine biological resources that dwell in close proximity to coral reef habitats. In comparison to other echinoderms, this marine biota is known as a fishing resource with considerable economic value. Sea cucumber hunting for commercial purposes has reached an overabundance. This is due to the fact that sea cucumbers move slowly and have a huge size, making catching them simpler. This is regarded to be one of the factors causing a drop in the density and size of the type of sea cucumber. The goal of this research is to look at the catch composition, conservation status, and density of sea cucumber stocks in the seas of Air Pinang Village, East Simeulue District, Simeulue Regency. This study was conducted from September to November 2020, and a sample of fisherman was chosen using the Accidental Sampling method. The book Fish Finder: Commercially Important Sea Cucumbers of the World was used to identify sea cucumber species. According to the findings, sea cucumbers were made up of 17 species, with Bohadschia similis accounting for 46.97 percent, Stichopus horrens for 15.96 percent, and Actinopyga lecanora, Holothuria nobilis, and Pearsonothuria graffei for 0.22 percent. According to the IUCN Red List, two sea cucumber species, Holothuria nobilis and Thelenota ananas, are endangered. In Air Pinang Village, the density of sea cucumber stocks was 0.38 ind/ha, with a sampling area of 407.27 ha.
