ABSTRAK

Kuda laut (Hippocampus sp.) adalah hewan dengan bentuk tubuh yang unik dan mempunyai nilai ekonomis tinggi. Kuda laut juga dapat dimanfaatkan baik dari segi obat-obatan maupun kosmetik. Saat ini belum diketahui tingkat keanekaragaman dan kelimpahan kuda laut (Hippocampus sp) yang berkaitan dengan eksploitasi berlebih yang dapat menyebabkan terjadinya penurunan kuda laut (Hippocampus sp.) di Perairan Simeulue. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman dan kelimpahan kuda laut di perairan pulau Simeulue sebagai informasi dasar pengembangan di masa mendatang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yakni dengan menentukan tiga titik lokasi sampling di pulau yang berbeda. Pengamatan dilakukan dengan sensus visual mengikuti transek garis yang di bentang sepanjang 100 meter dengan luas pengamatan 2 meter kekiri dan 2 meter ke. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif melalui data primer dan data sekunder. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 40 jenis individu kuda laut di tiga lokasi atau pulau yang berbeda seperti pulau Bangkalak, Naru dan Limau dengan jenis temuan di antaranya Hippocampus kellogi, Hippocampus histrix dan Hippocampus spinossimus.Pada pulau Bangkalak nilai kelimpahan kuda laut sebesar 0,043 ind/m2, dengan tingkat Keanekaragaman berkisar 0.215 dengan kategori (rendah), Keseragaman 0,310 (Rendah) dan nilai Dominansi 0,895 (Dominan). Pada lokasi Pulau Naruh nilai kelimpahan 0,028 ind/m2 Indeks keanekaragaman berkisar 0,580 (Rendah), nilai keseragaman 0,837 (Tinggi) dan nilai Dominansi 0,609 (Dominan). Pada lokasi Pantai Limau nilai kelimpahan 0,020 ind/m2, Indeks Keanekaragaman 0,974 (Rendah), Keseragaman 1,406 (Tinggi) dan Dominansi 0,406 (Tidak Dominan).

ABSTRACK Seahorses (Hippocampus sp.) are animals with a unique body shape and have high economic value. Sea horses can also be used both in terms of medicine and cosmetics. Currently, it is not known the level of diversity and abundance of seahorses (Hippocampus sp.) related to overexploitation which can cause a decrease in seahorses (Hippocampus sp) in Simeulue Waters. This study aims to determine the diversity and abundance of seahorses in the waters of Simeulue Island as basic information for future development. The research method used is to determine three sampling locations on different islands. Observations were made by means of a visual census following a line transect spanned 100 meters long with an observation area of 2 meters to the left and 2 meters to the left. Data were analyzed descriptively through primary data and secondary data. The results showed that there were 40 species of individual seahorses in three different locations or islands such as Bangkalak, Naru and Limau islands with the types of findings including Hippocampus kellogi, Hippocampus histrix and Hippocampus spinossimus. On the island of Bangkalak the seahorse abundance value was 0.043 ind/m2 , with a level of Diversity ranging from 0.215 with a category (low), Uniformity 0.310 (Low) and a Dominance value of 0.895 (Dominant). At the Naruh Island location, the abundance value was 0.028 ind/m2. The diversity index was around 0.580 (Low), the uniformity value was 0.837 (High) and the dominance value was 0.609 (Dominant). At the Limau Beach location, the abundance value is 0.020 ind/m2, the Diversity Index is 0.974 (Low), Uniformity is 1.406 (High) and Dominance is 0.406 (Not Dominant).
