Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi penerapan flipped classroom approach melalui sistem online dan mengetahui kelebihan dan kekurangan penggunaan flipped classroom melalui sistem online di politeknik pelayaran malahayati aceh. data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara dengan dosen bahasa inggris. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dosen menggunakan sistem flipped classroom melalui online dengan menggunakan google classroom, whatsapp dan email secara efektif. dari hasil observasi dan wawancara, flipped classroom memiliki kelebihan dan kekurangan baik bagi dosen maupun mahasiswa. beberapa keuntungannya adalah flipped classroom memungkinkan siswa mengendalikan pembelajaran mereka sendiri yang berarti siswa diberdayakan, dan sepenuhnya bertanggung jawab atas pembelajaran mereka sendiri dan juga kesempatan untuk memaksimalkan pembelajaran individual siswa. selain itu, ditemukan juga kendala yang dihadapi dosen dalam menggunakan flipped classroom melalui sistem online di politeknik pelayaran aceh seperti kurangnya keterlibatan dan partisipasi mahasiswa, serta kendala teknis seperti keterbatasan jaringan internet dan kuota internet.



Abstract

This qualitative research is aimed to evaluate the implementation of Flipped Classroom Approach through online system and figure out the advantages and disadvantages using flipped classroom through online system at Politeknik Pelayaran Malahayati Aceh. The data were gathered through observation and interview the English lecturer. The results show that the lecturer used flipped classroom through online system by using google classroom, WhatsApp and email effectively. From the observation and interview, flipped classroom had advantages and disadvantages for both the lecturer and the students. Some of the advantages are that Flipped Classroom allows students are in control of their own learning which means students are empowered, and wholely take responsibilities for their own learning and also a chance for maximizing students' individualized learning. Moreover, it was also found that the lecturers faced some barriers in using flipped classroom through online system at Politeknik Pelayaran Aceh such as some of lack of students’ engagement and participation, and technical issues such as limited internet network and internet quota.
