Abstract

Despite various efforts, immunization for children still faces significant challenges in Indonesia. The vaccination coverage still remains low, with only 41.8% in 2020. During the COVID-19 pandemic, immunization for children plays an even more essential role, and it must be prioritized because children are not only vulnerable to COVID-19 infection but also to prevent them from contracting vaccine-preventable diseases. This study aimed to investigate perceptions of mothers regarding immunization for their children during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study was descriptive quantitative research with a cross-sectional design. The sample in this study were all mothers (n=138) who have children aged 0-5 years old in Gampong Merduati, Gampong Lampaseh, and Gampong Pande, chosen through total sampling technique. For the data collection, the researcher used and administered a questionnaire. The results showed that 119 respondents (86.2%) had a positive perception about immunization for their children, and only 19 respondents had a negative perception (13.8%). The health workers at the local Community Health Center (Puskesmas) provide mothers with socialization regarding immunization procedures for children during covid to enhance their trust.
