Xiii abstrak kecamatan lhoong menjadi salah satu kawasan yang marak dengan praktek illegal logging. banjir dan longsor menjadi dampak illegal logging yang terjadi di gampong krueng kala, namun masyarakat krueng kala sendiri bersikap apatis terhadap praktek illegal logging tersebut. berdasarkan kacamata ekosentrisme, harusnya masyarakat menjadi pondasi utama dalam mencegah terjadinya praktek-praktek merusak lingkungan yang akhirnya akan menyebabkan bencana alam menimpa masyarakat itu sendiri. penelitian ini menggunakan teori ekosentrisme dan konsep apatisme. metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan deskriptif-kualitatif. hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penyebab masyarakat lhoong kabupaten aceh besar bersikap apatis terhadap praktek illegal logging adalah karena para rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat dalam menjaga lingkungan, buktinya apatisme terhadap praktek illegal logging karena sumber ekonomi dan kecewanya terhadap penegakan hukum malah menjadi hambatan dalam menjaga lingkungan. adanya pemuda gampong yang memberanikan diri untuk mengelola air terjun seuhom sebagai objek wisata demi menjaga lingkungan sekitarnya dari praktek illegal logging menjadi ekosentrisme yang seharusnya dikembangkan oleh pemerintah juga masyarakat. terutama dalam pemberdayaan ekonomi sebagai pengalihan dari praktek illegal logging. gerakan pemuda gampong juga mengawali adanya pendetakan adat, seperti aturan adat yang diberikan oleh panglima gle di gampong krueng kala untuk tidak memotong pohon kayu 50 meter dari wilayah pinggiran sungai krueng kala, namun pendekatan ini perlu dikembangkan karena praktek illegal logging melebihi jangkauan tersebut. pemerintah aceh dan pemerintah kabupaten aceh besar harus mengembangkan konsep pemberdayaan ekonomi dan pendekatan adat setempat untuk mencegah terjadinya praktek illegal logging di kecamatan lhoong. kata kunci : apatisme masyarakat, illegal logging, ekosentrisme .

xiv ABSTRACT Lhoong sub-district is one of the areas that is rife with illegal logging practices. Floods and landslides are the impact of illegal logging that occurred in Krueng Kala Village, but the people of Krueng Kala themselves are apathetic to the illegal logging practice. Based on ecocentrism perspective, society should be the main foundation in preventing the occurrence of environmentally damaging practices that will eventually cause natural disasters to befall the community itself. This study uses the theory of ecocentrism and the concept of apathy. The research method used is a descriptive-qualitative approach. The results of this study indicate that the cause of the Lhoong community in Aceh Besar Regency to be apathetic towards the practice of illegal logging is due to the low awareness of the community in protecting the environment, the evidence is that apathy towards the practice of illegal logging due to economic resources and disappointment with law enforcement are actually obstacles in protecting the environment. The existence of Gampong Youth who ventured to manage Seuhom Waterfall as a tourist attraction in order to protect the surrounding environment from illegal logging practices into ecocentrism which should be developed by the Government and the community. Especially in economic empowerment as a diversion from illegal logging practices. The gampong youth movement also initiated the existence of traditional priesthoods, such as the customary rule given by Panglima Gle in Krueng Kala Village not to cut wood trees 50 meters from the Krueng Kala riverbank area, but this approach needs to be developed because illegal logging practices exceed this range. The Aceh Government and Aceh Besar District Government must develop the concept of economic empowerment and local customary approaches to prevent illegal logging practices in Lhoong District.
