This study is entitled teaching speaking by using teams-games-tournaments (tgt) for second year students of junior high school. speaking is an activity to communicate with other. generally, most of the students still have some difficulties in speaking. for the reason, the teacher should prepare a suitable activity in teaching speaking to make the students able to express what they are going to say correctly in english. teams-games-tournaments (tgt) is an activity included in cooperative learning that teacher could apply in teaching speaking. the research was conducted to find out a brief explanation of implementing team-games• tournaments (tgt) which aims at enhancing students' speaking ability. to obtain the data, the writer bas conducted a library research in searching references it through book. journal, article, and the previous research. based on those source references, the writer conclude that teams• games-tournaments (tgt) is a good activity in teaching speaking where it could be seen in the improvement of students' speaking ability. therefore, teams-games-tournaments (tgt) could be one of the alternatives teaching activity that teacher must consider in teaching speaking.
