The purpose of this study is to see discover the significant differences between the students of smp n. i and smp n. 2 banda aceh and to find out how many percents of correct answers are chosen by students at both school taken as the sample of this study. there were 44 students of smp n. 11 and 41 students of smp n.2, who were used as samples for the study. the data were collected by using a set of lest. the tests consisted of 48 identifying part of speech tests and 10 word meaning tests and 10 word choice tests. this finding shows that the students are still lack of the knowledge of mastery vocabulary. they were unable to recognize the weakness of their vocabulary mastery. but this thesis tries to describe the result of research done to see, the students achievement in recognizing and mastering vocabulary. it was also done in order to know what problems were faced by the students of smp n. i and smp n. 2 in mastering vocabulary.
