Abstrak rizki, rahmat. 2021. tokoh pendidikan aceh: prof. darwis abbas soelaiman, 1938-2020. skripsi, jurusan pendidikan sejarah, fakultas keguruan dan ilmu pendidikan, universitas syiah kuala. pembimbing: 1. drs. mawardi, m. hum., ma. 2. sufandi iswanto, s.pd., m.pd. kata kunci: prof. darwis abbas soelaiman, tokoh pendidikan aceh, penelitian yang mengangkat masalah riwayat hidup dan peran prof. darwis abbas soelaiman terhadap pendidikan aceh. bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan riwayat hidup prof. darwis abbas soelaiman, peran prof. darwis abbas soelaiman terhadap pendidikan aceh. penelitian ini diberi judul “tokoh pendidikan aceh: biografi prof. darwis abbas soelaiman, 1938-2020” karena tokoh yang riwayat hidupnya dibahas dalam penelitian ini adalah prof. h. darwis abbas soelaiman, ma., ph. d. tokoh pendidikan yang terkenal dan sangat berpengaruh terhadap pendidikan aceh. pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tiga acara, yakni wawancara dengan informan, dokumentasi pada arsip pribadi, arsip pemerintah, dan observasi langsung ke rumah prof. darwis abbas soelaiman di kopelma darussalam. metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dan sejarah kritis dengan pendekatan kualitatif. berdasarkan penelitian, diperoleh hasil sebagai berikut: (1) prof. darwis abbas soelaiman adalah tokoh pendidikan aceh, (2) kiprah prof. darwis abbas soelaiman terhadap perubahan dan pengembangan pendidikan aceh. prof. darwis abbas soelaiman semasa kiprahnya telah membawa perubahan pendidikan di aceh dan banyak berkontribusi dalam upaya membangun pendidikan dan karakter bangsa. ide-ide darwis tentang pengembangan pendidikan bukan hanya untuk lingkungan kampus, namun juga untuk aceh dan nasional. disarankan penelitian ini dapat disebar luaskan guna mengisi bacaan generasi muda agar dapat belajar dan termotivasi dari tokoh pendidikan tersebut. bagi mahasiswa dan dosen pendidikan sejarah fakultas keguruan dan ilmu pendidikan universitas syiah kuala diharapkan dapat melakukan penelitian serupa karena masih banyak tokoh-tokoh pendidikan disekitar kita yang belum terdokumentasikan riwayat hidup dan karyanya.

Keywords: Prof. Darwis Abbas Soelaiman, Aceh's figure of education, A research which elaborates the biography and the role he holds in the history of Aceh's education. The intended purpose is to describe the life history of Prof. Darwis Abbas Soelaiman, the role of Prof. Darwis Abbas Soelaiman on Aceh's education. This research is entitled “Aceh's figure of education: The Biography of Prof. Darwis Abbas Soelaiman, 1938-2020 "because the character whose life history is discussed in this study is Prof. H. Darwis Abbas Soelaiman, MA., Ph. D. who is well-known and greatly influential in Aceh's education. The process of collecting data was conducted in three procedures, namely interviews with informants, documentation in personal archives, government archives, and direct observation to Prof.'s house. Darwis Abbas Soelaiman at Kopelma Darussalam. The method applied is descriptive method and critical history with a qualitative approach. Based on the research, the following results were obtained: (1) Prof. Darwis Abbas Soelaiman is an Aceh's figure of education , (2) The impact of Prof. Darwis Abbas Soelaiman on the change and development of Aceh's education. Prof. Darwis Abbas Soelaiman during his work has brought a wide variety of alternation in Aceh's education and the heavy contribution to establish a strong foundation of education and the character of the nation. The notions from Darwis about the development of education are not only for the campus environment, but also for Aceh and nationally. It is recommended that this research can be disseminated to fill the readings of the younger generation so that they can learn and be motivated from these educational figures. For students and lecturers of History Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Syiah Kuala University, it is hoped that they can conduct similar research because there are still many educational figures around us who have not documented their curriculum vitae and work.
