Name : faridah student's number : 0606102020095 study program : english title : the application of serial pictures in teaching writing procedure text this thesis entitles «the application of serial pictures in teaching writing procedure text". one class pretest post-test experimental design was applied in teaching at smp negeri 8 banda aceh. this study is intended to find out whether the application of serial pictures in teaching writing procedure text improves the students' achievement in writing or not. the population of the study was the first year students of smp negeri 8 banda aceh and the sample of this study was the students of class vll -6 that consists of 2) students. the instrument for this study is test. the data is the score of pretest and post-test. from these tests, the 'writer found that the mean score of pretest is 52.81 and the mean score of post-test is 76.81. the result shows that the mean of post-test is higher than that of pretest. to analyze the data, the researcher uses the t-score formula, after analyzing the data, the writer found that the value of t-score is 4.285 and the value of t-table at level significance 5% (0.05) is 2.086. from this result. it can be seen that the value of t-score is higher than the value oft-table. it means that the alternative hypothesis (ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (110) is rejected. the conclusion drawn from this study is that the application of serial pictures in teaching writing procedure text improves the students' achievement in writing and yields good result.
