Name student no study program script title : cut herawati : 0706102020079 : english education : the application of cooperative learning stad in teaching reading skill. the purpose of this study is to look at some given theories or research findings on the application of cooperative learning method in teaching leading skill by using st ad technique for second years of junior high school.the study found that using st ad can facilitate the students exchange their ideas and information in a useful manner. besides, each student has equal opportunity to share ideas with their friends. it also found that the students are highly motivated and pleased to learn the language in many aspects of language. the results can be used as a model of learning in school. it is also expected that this work would be a valuable feedback for english teachers in general, and input for secondary school students' to improve their learning process. method used in this script is the library research, which is accessed through the library and the internet. lt is also expected to the teacher has to provide a good teaching planning in order to improve the students' motivation and use the good approaches, methods and techniques of teaching english especially in teaching reading.
