Keywords: collocations, grammatical collocations, lexical collocations this research investigates the lexical collocations and grammatical collocations used in north aceh dialect and analyzes which part of speech categories collocations of north aceh dialect are grouped. the research focuses on the lexical collocations and grammatical collocations used in blang mee village of bireuen district by referring to the framework proposed by benson et al. (1986). this is a descriptive qualitative research which primarily used interviews to obtain the required data. the results of the study show that north acehnese has both grammatical and lexical collocations. the grammatical collocations of north aceh dialect are noun + preposition combinations, adjective + preposition combinations, preposition + noun combinations, and collocational verb patterns, while the lexical collocations dialect are verb (denoting creation or activation) + noun combinations, verb (meaning eradication or nullification) + a noun, adjective + noun combinations, noun + verb combinations, noun + noun combinations, adverb + adjective combinations, and verb + adverb combinations. the findings can be used as acehnese english learning reference for understanding collocation in easier way and the most importantly it is also to document and to preserve the acehnese language. in conclusion, investigating collocations of a language is one of the ways to have better understanding of the language.
