Abstract name : vonna rohaza student no. : 1406102020040 department/program : english education/undergraduate title : “an analysis of personification in soundtracks of movie trolls” keywords: personification, types of personification, song lyrics this research is literature study which aim to find out the personification types used in soundtracks of movie trolls. the sources of the data were lyrics of 11 songs of 13 songs that were included in the movie. the research design used in this study was qualitative research with document analysis as the technique of data collection. the findings showed there were 23 personification expressions found in soundtracks of movie trolls. those 23 are then categorized into the types of personification as proposed by zhu (1991), namely: non-living creature personification (12 expressions), and abstractions personification (11 expressions). the results imply that these personification expressions enhanced the meaning in the lyrics and added to the aesthetics aspects of the songs.
