Abstrak penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perlakuan short-term cooling, jenis kelamin sapi, dan interaksinya terhadap derajat infestasi parasit gastrointestinal pada sapi aceh dan sapi peranakan ongole (po). penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap pola faktorial berulang 2x2 (two way repeated measure) dengan 8 ulangan. faktor i adalah perlakuan short-term cooling (b1 = pre short-term cooling dan b2 = post short -term cooling), faktor ii adalah jenis kelamin sapi (a1 = sapi jantan dan a2 = sapi betina). sapi yang digunakan adalah sapi aceh dan sapi po terdiri dari jantan dan betina dengan umur 3-5 tahun. perlakuan short-term cooling dilakukan dengan dengan menyemprotkan air ke tubuh ternak selama 5 menit pada siang hari. pengambilan sampel dilakukan sebanyak 2 kali, yaitu sebelum perlakuan short-term cooling dan setelah perlakuan short-term cooling. parasit diidentifikasi dan dihitung derajat infestasinya dengan metode sentrifus, metode mcmaster, metode parfitt dan banks, dan metode sedimentasi modifikasi borray. data yang diperoleh diuji menggunakan uji sidik ragam (two way repeated measure anova). hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan short-term cooling mampu menurunkan derajat infestasi parasit gastrointestinal golongan cacing baik pada sapi aceh maupun sapi po secara sangat signifikan (p0,05). jenis kelamin pada sapi aceh berpengaruh signifikan terhadap derajat infestasi parasit golongan cacing (p0,05), sedangkan pada sapi po, jenis kelamin tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan untuk golongan cacing dan protozoa (p>0,05). tidak ada interaksi yang signifikan antara perlakuan short-term cooling dengan jenis kelamin terhadap derajat infestasi parasit gastrointestinal (p>0,05) baik pada sapi aceh maupun sapi po. kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah perlakuan short-term cooling dapat menurunkan derajat infestasi parasit gastrointestinal golongan cacing pada sapi aceh dan sapi po, jenis kelamin pada sapi aceh berpengaruh terhadap derajat infestasi parasit gastrointestinal golongan cacing, tetapi tidak ada interaksi antara perlakuan short-term cooling dan jenis kelamin terhadap derajat infestasi parasit gastrointestinal pada sapi aceh dan sapi po. kata kunci: derajat infestasi parasit gastrointestinal, short-term cooling, sapi aceh, sapi po, jenis kelamin sapi. abstract this study aims to determine the effect of short-term cooling, cattle sex, and their interactions with the degree of infestation of gastrointestinal parasites in aceh and peranakan ongole (po) cattles. this study used a completely randomized 2x2 (two way repeated measure) factorial design with 8 replications. factor i was the treatment of short-term cooling (b1 = pre-short-cooling and b2 = post-short-cooling), factor ii was cattles sex (a1 = male cow and a2 = female cow). the cattles used are aceh and po cattles consisting of males and females aged 3-5 years. short-term cooling treatment was done by spraying water on the animal's body for 5 minutes during the day. sampling was carried out 2 times, namely before the short-term cooling treatment and after the short-term cooling treatment. the parasite was identified and the degree of infestation was calculated by the centrifuge method, the mcmaster method, the parfitt and banks method, and the borray modification method. the data obtained were tested using a variance test (two way repeated measure anova). the results showed that short-term cooling treatment was able to reduce the degree of infestation of worms parasitic in both aceh and po cattles very significantly (p 0,05). sex in aceh cattles significantly influence the degree of infestation of worms parasites (p 0,05), whereas in po csttles, sex didn’t significantly influence the worms and protozoa groups (p 0,05) in both aceh and po cattles. the conclusion of this research is the short-term cooling treatment can reduce the degree of infestation of worms gastrointestinal parasites in aceh and po cattles, the sex of aceh cattless influences the degree of worms gastrointestinal parasite infestations, but there is no interaction between short-term cooling treatments and sex to the degree of gastrointestinal parasitic infestation in aceh and po cattles. keywords: degree of gastrointestinal parasitic infestation, short-term cooling, aceh cattle, po cattle, sex of cattle.
