Abstrak profesi sebagai pedagang kaki lima usaha yang cukup menjanjikan dan terbukti dapat menggerakkan ekonomi rill masyarakat ditengah kondisi sulitnya mencari lapangan kerja dan pemutusan hubungan kerja kata kunci:peranan, pemberdayaan, pedagang kaki lima. abstract profession as a sidewalk trader is a potential business opportunity that is quite promising and proven to move the economic rill society amid difficult conditions of finding employment and termination of employment. the government needs to play a role in driving the economy of the sidewalk trader by empowerment, both from coaching and business capital. the research aims to determine the extent to which the role of government through blud-uptd in empowering the sidewalk trader in kartini peunayong market. the type of research used is qualitative research with descriptive type as a research approach, where the research is conducted in pasar kartini peunayong of banda aceh. while the data collection techniques used are observations, interviews and documentation. to analyse this research, researchers use the empowerment theory. the results showed that sidewalk trader empowerment conducted by blud-uptd market is not optimal because of lack of staff, especially the empowerment part, so that the absence of spesialy coaching and lack of communication between the sidewalk trader and blud-uptd party as a result there are still many sidewalk trader selling on the road. unsurprisingly, until now the image that appears in the empowerment of the sidewalk trader is only limited to the provision of weathering, for the purpose of regulating. the government should be able to further assist in the process of empowerment of the pkl by providing assistance both material keywords: role, empowerment, sidewalk trader.
