Abstrak modifikasi membran hemodialsis berbahan dasar kitosan dengan pati janeng berikatan silang asam sitrat telah dilakukan. membran hemodialisis dikembangkan untuk memisahkan dan menghilangkan racun dalam darah. karakterisasi membran dilakukan menggunakan instrumen universal testing machine, scanning electron microscope (sem), fourier transform infra-red (ftir), differential scanning calorimetry (dsc) dan thermogravimetric analysis (tga). membran tanpa ikat silang memiliki kuat tarik sebesar 11,07 kgf/mm2 sedangkan membran ikat silang memiliki kuat tarik yang lebih baik yaitu 66,07 kgf/mm2. membran tanpa ikat silang mampu menyerap kreatinin hingga 5,17 mg/g membran sedangkan membran ikat silang mampu menyerap kreatinin hingga 8,66 mg/g membran dengan total removal kreatinin masing-masing membran adalah 8,99 dan 10,61 mg/g membran. removal kreatinin menggunakan membran tanpa ikat silang dan membran ikat silang telah mendekati kadar normal kreatinin yang telah ditetapkan. kata kunci : kitosan, pati, asam sitrat, adsorpsi, membran dan hemodialisis abstract modifications of hemodialysis membranes based chitosan with starch cross-linked citric acid have been carried out. hemodialysis membranes are developed to separate and eliminate toxins in the blood. membrane characterization was performed using universal testing machine instruments, scanning electron microscope (sem), fourier transform infra-red (ftir), differential scanning calorimetry (dsc) and thermogravimetric analysis (tga). the membrane without cross-linking has a tensile strength of 11.07 kgf/mm2 while the cross-linked membrane has a better tensile strength of 66.07 kgf/mm2. membrane without cross-linking can adsorption creatinine up to 5.17 mg/g membrane while the cross-linked membrane can adsorption creatinine up to 8.66 mg/g membrane with total creatinine removal is 8.99 and 10.61 mg/g membrane, respectively. creatinine removal using membranes without cross-linking and cross-linked membranes has approached the normal creatinine levels that have been set. keywords: chitosan, starch, citric acid, adsorption, membrane and hemodialysis
