Abstract firmanila, 2019 the role of aceh truth and reconciliation commission (trc) regarding women’s rights in aceh’s conflict faculty of law, syiah kuala university (iv, 50)., pp., bibl. dr. m. ya’kub aiyub kadir the establishment of aceh trc is based on a 2005 peace agreement between the indonesian government and free aceh movement. this mandate then regulated in act no. 11 year 2006 on aceh’s government that to seek the truth and reconciliation, under aceh truth and reconciliation commission (trc). this regulation was realized through the aceh qanun no. 17 year 2013 on aceh trc. three years later, the commissioner of aceh trc was chosen and inaugurated by aceh house of representative on july 2016. the aim of this research is to explain about aceh trc and its progress in fulfilling the rights of women as the victim of aceh’s conflict. this research is also purposed to find out the challenges faced by trc so it can be recommended for those challenges. in conducting this research, the researcher uses a normative and empirical legal research. normative legal research is a methodology that serves to see the law and empirical legal research is a legal method to explore how the law is implemented. aceh trc is an institution that has the goals to uncover the truth about the past of human rights violations, to achieve reconciliation and to recommend a comprehensive reparation. currently (may 2019), aceh trc is still collecting data to achieve the first goal that is uncovering the truth. the result of this research indicates that the aceh trc has not fulfilled yet the rights of women as victim in aceh’s conflict. this research also found there are challenges faced by trc which had the impact on its work. it is recommended that aceh trc should implement the urgent reparations as soon as possible considering the condition of the victims, should give special attention to women’s victim and fulfill their rights, and also for the government to be supportive of aceh trc so it can fulfill the rights of women’s victim.
