Kepemimpinan kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan pada sd gugus mangga kecamatan jaya baru banda aceh principal’s leadership in improving the education quality at mangga elemantary school group at jaya baru sub-district in banda aceh abstract (caswo) this research aims to find out the planning program, implementation strategy program, and the obstacles faced by the principal in improving the educational quality at mangga elementary school group at jaya baru sub-district in banda aceh. this research uses descriptive method with qualitative approach. the techniques in data collection are interview, observation, and documentation study. the subjects of this research are the principals, teachers, and supervisors. the result of the research shows that: (1) the principal planning in developing the school program is in line with school vision and mission which are described in the goals of the school. the activity done is through discussion by involving the committee, and it is documented. it gives the overview that the principal able to develop various planning programs in improving the education quality; (2) the principal strategies in improving the education quality lead to effective school model development which focuses on professionalism and empowerment of all school staff for the quality improvement program. (3) the obstacle faced by the principal in improving the education quality at mangga elementary school group at jaya baru sub-district in banda aceh is in making planning to train the teachers optimally. keyword: leadership, principal, and education quality
