This study is intended to find out the students’ perception toward native english speaking teachers (nests) in teaching speaking. the sample of this study were 26 students who took subjects with nests (13 students from academic year 2013 and 13 students from academic year 2014). they were chosen randomly. the data of this study were collected through questionnaire which consisted of 18 question items divided into five categories; teaching competence, cultural knowledge, teaching style, classroom management, and teachers’ personal aspect and interview guide. the findings showed that students perceived nests are superior in teaching oral skills such as speaking. the students also think that nests are creative, have many ways in teaching, and not monotonous. in other words, nests use various materials in teaching. the students also viewed nests as the ideal model for pronunciation, as well as being a strong source of cultural information about the target language. however, they also found nests are poor at explaining grammar. it is because nests do not have experiences to learn english as a second language.
