Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak biji pohon pinang (areca catechu) terhadap mortalitas argulus sp. pada ikan maskoki (carassius auratus) serta menentukan konsentrasi optimal ekstrak. penelitian ini dilaksanakan di laboratorium biologi laut fakultas kelautan dan perikanan, universitas syiah kuala, pada bulan juli - agustus 2016. penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (ral) dengan 11 perlakuan konsentrasi ekstrak : a (0 ppm), b (10 ppm), c (20 ppm), d (30 ppm), e (40 ppm), f (50 ppm), g (60 ppm), h (70 ppm), i (80 ppm), j (90 ppm), k (100 ppm) dan 3 ulangan. hasil uji anova menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak biji pohon pinang berpengaruh nyata (p < 0,05) terhadap mortalitas ektoparasit argulus sp. konsentrasi optimal diperoleh pada perlakuan 40 ppm dengan nilai mortalitas argulus sp. mencapai 100%. the objective of this research was to determine the effect of areca catechu seed extract on the mortality of argulus sp. that infected goldfish (carassius auratus) and to determine the optimum concentration of the extract. the research was conducted at marine biologi laboratory, marine and fisheries faculty, syiah kuala university from july to august, 2016. this study used the completely randomized design with 11 treatments of extract consentration : 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100 ppm and three repetitions. the result of anova showed that the extract gave the effect on the mortality of argulus sp. the optimum concentration was obtained at 40 ppm of extract concentration with the mortality of argulus sp. up to 100 %.
