Zuwi Pertiwi, EVALUASI KINERJA ARSITEKTUR MOBILENETV2 DAN VGG16 DALAM KLASIFIKASI CACAT PERMUKAAN KAYU BAHAN INDUSTRI. Banda Aceh Fakultas MIPA - Informatika,2026

Abstract

This study aims to classify defects on wood surfaces using a computer vision-based deep learning approach by comparing the MobileNetV2 and VGG16 architectures. The dataset consists of 3,187 images classified into two categories, namely good and defect. The preprocessing stage includes image resizing, image format adjustment, preprocessing according to the model architecture, and data augmentation on the training data. The MobileNetV2 and VGG16 models were developed using a transfer learning approach with ImageNet pretrained weights, followed by fine-tuning to improve classification performance. Model performance was evaluated using a confusion matrix, accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and inference time. The evaluation results showed that MobileNetV2 achieved an accuracy of 98.96%, precision of 98.08%, recall of 100%, and F1-score of 99.03%, while VGG16 achieved an accuracy of 99.58%, precision of 100%, recall of 99.22%, and F1-score of 99.61%. The inference time obtained by MobileNetV2 was 17.27 ms per image, while VGG16 required 17.94 ms per image. The McNemar test resulted in a p-value of 0.4497 (> 0.05), indicating that the performance difference between the two models was not statistically significant. Based on these results, both architectures demonstrated very good performance in classifying wood surface images, with VGG16 showing slightly higher numerical performance than MobileNetV2. Keywords: computer vision, wood defect classification, deep learning, transfer learning, MobileNetV2, VGG16.
