Abstract
Siti Raihan. (2026). The Effect of Bullying on the Learning Motivation of Cadets at SMK Negeri Penerbangan Aceh. [Skripsi, Syiah Kuala University]. Under direction Dr. Muhammad Yunus, S.Pd., M.Pd. and Dr. Ruslan, S.Pd., M.Ed. This study was prompted by preliminary findings indicating that approximately 40-50% of cadets at SMK Negeri Penerbangan Aceh had experienced bullying, whether verbal or physical. This phenomenon persists within the boarding school environment, despite the implementation of rules and supervision. Failure to address bullying seriously can jeopardize victims’ mental health and even their educational continuity. The objective of this study was to determine the impact of bullying on the learning motivation of cadets at SMK Negeri Penerbangan Aceh. The theoretical framework incorporates Olweus bullying theory covering verbal, physical, relational, and cyberbullying dimensions and Self Determination Theory to explain learning motivation. A quantitative ex post facto approach was employed, utilizing purposive sampling with 42 respondents. Data were collected using likert scale which had undergone validity and reliability testing. Descriptive analysis revealed that both bullying levels and learning motivation among the cadets fell into the moderate category. Verbal bullying levels and learning motivation among the cadets fell into the moderate category. Verbal bullying was identified as the most frequently experienced form of bullying. Simple linear regression analysis yielded the equation Y = 131,416 – 1,060X with a significance value of 0,038 (< 0,05), indicating a significant negative impact of bullying on learning motivation, this implies that hinger levels of bullying correspond to lower learning motivation among cadets, although the magnitude of this effect is relatively small 10,3% compared to factors outside the scope of this study. Based on these findings, it is recommended that the school implement more effective supervision of student interactions, both in classrooms and across the school grounds, future researchers are encouraged to expand the sample size and incorporate additional variables such as social support, parenting styles, and others.
