Mesya Geubrina Rahmah, EFEKTIVITAS KOMBINASI TEKNIK RELAKSASI BENSON DAN MUROTTAL AL-QUR’AN TERHADAP KECEMASAN PADA PASIEN HEMODIALISIS DI RUMAH SAKIT UMUM DAERAH BANDA ACEH. Banda Aceh Fakultas Keperawatan,2026

Abstract

Anxiety is a psychological problem commonly experienced by patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. The effectiveness of combining the Benson relaxation technique with recitation of the Qur’an in reducing anxiety remains limited. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of combining the Benson relaxation technique with recitation of the Qur’an on anxiety levels in hemodialysis patients. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group approach was used. A total of 76 respondents were selected using consecutive sampling and divided into an intervention group (38 respondents) and a control group (38 respondents) based on their hemodialysis schedules. The intervention group received a combination of the Benson relaxation technique and recitation of the Qur’an for 15 minutes twice a week for 2 weeks, while the control group received standard hospital care. Anxiety levels were measured using the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test and the Mann–Whitney U test. The results showed that anxiety levels decreased in the intervention group, from a median of 13.00 (IQR 5.25) to 7.00 (IQR 5.00) (p < 0.001). Meanwhile, the control group showed no significant change, with the median shifting from 14.00 (IQR 4.25) to 15.00 (IQR 3.50) (p = 0.296). Before the intervention, there was no difference in anxiety levels between the intervention group and the control group (p = 0.179). After the intervention, a significant difference was observed, with a median of 7.00 (IQR 5.00) in the intervention group and 15.00 (IQR 3.50) in the control group (p < 0.001). These findings indicate that the combination of Benson’s relaxation techniques and recitation of the Qur’an is effective in reducing anxiety levels in hemodialysis patients. This intervention may be considered to reduce anxiety in hemodialysis patients.
