Penggunaan alat tangkap yang tepat tidak hanya bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil tangkapan, tetapi juga untuk mengurangi dampak negatif terhadap lingkungan perairan. alat tangkap bubu merupakan alat tangkap pasif yang ramah lingkungan, mudah dioperasikan, dan memiliki biaya operasional yang relatif rendah. keberhasilan penggunaannya sangat dipengaruhi oleh desain dan konstruksi alat. oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan merancang dan membangun alat tangkap bubu berbentuk persegi serta mendeskripsikan spesifikasi teknis dan konstruksinya di perairan ulee lheue, banda aceh. penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan maret 2026 menggunakan metode experimental fishing. tahapan penelitian meliputi perancangan desain, pemilihan bahan, pembuatan rangka, pemasangan badan bubu, corong masuk, pintu pengambilan hasil, serta pemasangan tali, pelampung, dan pemberat. data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bubu persegi yang dihasilkan memiliki dimensi 120 × 100 × 75 cm, menggunakan rangka besi berdiameter 10 mm, badan dari jaring polyethylene (pe) bermata jaring 3 inci, dua corong masuk berbentuk kepala kuda, satu pintu pengambilan hasil, serta dilengkapi tali utama, pelampung, dan pemberat. konstruksi bubu mampu mempertahankan bentuk dan stabilitas alat selama pengoperasian, mudah dibuat, mudah dioperasikan, serta memiliki biaya pembuatan sekitar 475.000 rupiah per unit. dengan demikian, bubu persegi yang dirancang layak dikembangkan sebagai alternatif alat tangkap yang efektif, ekonomis, dan ramah lingkungan bagi nelayan skala kecil. kata kunci: bubu persegi, rancang bangun, konstruksi, alat tangkap.



Abstract

The use of appropriate fishing gear aims not only to increase catch yields but also to minimize negative impacts on the aquatic environment. The bubu (fish trap) is a passive fishing gear that is environmentally friendly, easy to operate, and entails relatively low operational costs. Its effectiveness depends heavily on its design and construction. Therefore, this study aimed to design and construct a square-shaped fish trap and to document its technical specifications and construction details for use in the waters of Ulee Lheue, Banda Aceh. The study was conducted in March 2026 using an experimental fishing method. The research stages included design planning, material selection, frame fabrication, assembly of the trap body, installation of entry funnels and a harvest access door, and the attachment of lines, floats, and weights. Data were analyzed using a descriptive-qualitative approach. The results showed that the square trap measured 120 × 100 × 75 cm and featured a 10 mm diameter iron frame, a body made of 3-inch mesh polyethylene (PE) netting, two "horse-head" shaped entry funnels, and a harvest access door, along with a main line, floats, and weights. The trap's construction maintained its shape and stability during operation; it was easy to fabricate and operate, with a production cost of approximately IDR 475,000 per unit. Thus, the designed square trap is a viable candidate for development as an effective, economical, and environmentally friendly fishing gear option for small-scale fishers.
